to this very hour, the fact that she had cheated on her husband was eating at cerise. she had barely even hinted at a ghost of a smile. the fact that her own future was riding on him frightened her. their relationship… their everything. cerise was scared. the young woman was so well adjusted to being in control of situations that handing the reigns over to someone else was the most complicated thing she had ever done. all she knew that she could do was put up one hell of an argument. especially tonight. they were going out to dinner to talk about everything, and the blond wanted to assume that only counted their future together. she had rummaged through her closet to find an appropriate outfit just for the occasion, put on some makeup, and done her hair. if anything, she wanted to look amazing tonight. flawless. just like she had done on her first date with him. god, that was another memory she would potentially dread if they wound up divorcing. she never was too vocal about it, but he meant everything to her. it was times like these when she wished she could have said more.
placing her earrings within her ears, she looked to the time. they should be leaving now. she snatched her purse and began to walk down the steps and toward the entrance; a sullen expression on her face. "rémy? i'm ready whenever you are, hon. just… come down to the car. i guess…" she called, her voice echoing and vibrating off every surface. pulling the door open, she walked out and felt a gust of cold air. goosebumps rose as the air gently caressed her on the way to the vehicle. once inside, she looked down. cerise was going to do this. she was going to win him back over to her side. sure, they would have to work on the trust issues. but she wanted to show him that she could be trusted if he would give her time to show him. she wanted another chance, and she wanted to prove to rémy that she would be an amazing wife. she could only pray that he would even begin to give her that chance.

not talking about the whole drama when rémy just walked in on ceri and her ... boy toy was probably a good idea. now rémy had had some time to clear his mind, make sense of his thoughts and to try and think of what he wanted to do now. he hated this situation. he didn't know what it was like to have someone you love hurt you like this. ceri cheated on him. he loved her to no end and there was no doubt about that, the only thing he really doubted was how much cerise really cared about him right now. she cheated on him. she went behind his back; she didn't even bother to bring up the fact that she wanted more attention. yes, that sounded silly; wanting more attention, but he would've given it to her without a second thought. he knew he spend a lot of time at the hospital, and he knew that cerise pretty much had a right to ask for a bit more of his time. but she hadn't. and that was the whole point of this. she hadn't even talked to him about this. she just went out and found other guys to keep her entertained and it just worried him to no end that she thought so little of their marriage, of their relationship. he didn't even get the chance to be there for her; she just replaced him with other men. what was that even about? was he not good enough?
no. he wasn't going to go there. he did realise that maybe he should've been at home more, but that was all that he was to blame for. he was there for ceri when she really needed him. being a doctor was just a job that you couldn't just drop when someone needed you. the patients needed him as well. they were the ones in life danger not cerise. if she was. well he would rush to her side, obviously. but that wasn't the point right now. they were heading out to have dinner and hopefully discuss this whole matter. he had been done with getting ready for ages now; men did have it easier, apparently. he'd just slid on a suit and that was all the effort he really put in it. sure, he'd showered and cleaned himself up a little bit, but that was really about it. it wasn't even that fancy of a restaurant they were going to, so it wasn't that necessary for him to look spic and span. heck. it was a pizza parlor. he was in the kitchen when cerise walked down the stairs, getting himself a drink of water before they would have to leave. he glanced at his watch as he heard ceri's voice coming from the entrance and he nodded, moreso to himself because ceri wouldn't be able to see him to begin with, and put down his glass on the counter before heading towards the car. closing the door behind him, rémy made his way to the car swiftly, sliding into the driver's seat and digging up the car key from his pocket. he looked briefly over to ceri's, felt the need to bite back any comment on how she looked amazing as always and then simply started up the car.
rémy wasn't generally much of a talker, and right now he had no idea what to say. he would wait till they were actually sitting at their dinner table till he would bring this whole thing up. because that was easier. he didn't want to discuss this whilst driving. so he made sure they were at the pizza parlor swiftly, pulling the car over to the side and shutting down the engine before getting out the car. deciding that forgetting his manners was not necessary, he walked around the car to open the door for ceri as well, locking the car after she got out and moving into the parlor, checking with one of the waiters, he soon had the both of them escorted to their table. pulling ceri's chair back, he then moved to sit down himself and then took the map from the table, studying it for a good couple of seconds before looking up at ceri. ''what do you want to drink?'' he asked casually, actually kind of liking this whole 'let's act like nothing happened' thing. but he knew that wasn't the way to handle this situation. sadly.

cerise was none too thrilled about having to talk tonight at dinner. she would probably wind up in tears by the end of this if it didn't go her way. but she hadn't touched any other men, or even had any contact with the ones she had been with. she was trying to actually show him how much he meant. even if she showed it in an absurd fashion. as the arrived and she began to walk inside with him, she took a seat and just looked at him. grabbing a menu, she flipped through it in an idle fashion. this was awkward and tense. was she supposed to bring it up? him? obviously it wasn't as bad as it had been the day that it all went down. they could actually think, but it was still awkward to her. she sifted through all the items on the menu until his voice grasped her attention. her head automatically shot up and she half-smiled. it was fake, yet she didn't take any effort to make it any more real. he knew how she felt in this position. looking up, she raised a brow, "hum. just water is fine with me, i guess," she whispered quietly as she glanced around the small, humble building. she chewed on her bottom lip and waited for a waiter or waitress. once one came up with a pad of paper and pen, she clicked it open.
"um. water please," she whispered to the waiter before looking at rémy with a brow raised, "and a coke for my husband, thank you," cerise was bossy. she liked to be in charge and tended to order for people at restaurants. of course, she usually would have to know what they enjoyed first. as the waitress walked away, cerise scooted in a bit more and looked toward rémy with a tight lipped expression. there it was. the awkward silence. one would think she had become used to it by now. but no, it was still as strange as when she had been caught with donovan. forcing a smile onto her face, she reached out in an attempt to grasp his hand within her's and pull it closer toward her. if it wasn't a welcome gesture, he was able to pull his hand back. but she wanted to attempt something. if he allowed her to at least act loving toward him, then he wasn't thinking she was completely repulsive. "i love you, rémy," she sighed, trying to rub the back of his hand with her thumb. she would never quit reminding him of that. it was the truth, and she was determined to make him realize that, "i.. i don't want you to leave. i'm so scared that i'm going to wind up alone. i don't want that. i love you. please, rémy… just. please.." she whispered in a helpless tone.

rémy wasn't entirely sure why exactly they were at a pizza parlor. it seemed to be the only somewhat proper restaurant that wasn't too far away; most of the more fancy restaurants were further into the center of town and rémy had to say that he really wasn't in the mood for those posh restaurants. at least if some sort of scene were to be started here it wouldn't be much of a problem. maybe that was a silly thought, but still. he didn't mind the pizza parlor. it was clean and well, he happened to like pizza. especially with pineapple. it was a bit of a guilty pleasure, only he wasn't quite sure why he should be guilty for it. but well. either way. he didn't mind being here. the only thing that made this whole thing awkward was the fact that his wife had cheated on him and they were supposed to discuss the thing right now. and he had no idea what to say still. he just wanted things back to normal, but he felt like he couldn't just forgive cerise for this one. she cheated on him and she did it just because she said she didn't get enough attention from him and .. well, the thing that bugged him most was still the fact that she hadn't even tried to talk to him about that. they had been married for a while now; they were supposed to have a good marriage. whenever they arrived at some benefit thing for the hospital or whatever, people were always on about how they looked so happy and well, fuck it, rémy was happy, but apparently that wasn't good enough for cerise and that did sort of piss him off.
but he supposed most of this depended on how forgiving he wanted to be. he knew that he didn't want a divorce, but maybe some sort of councelling .. well rémy didn't know if he wanted that either but it might be needed. he just had no clue when their relationship went to this golden thing to cerise cheating on him behind his back and not talking to him anymore. rémy listened somewhat absentminded as cerise ordered drinks for them. he was more of a wine person, but he doubted they had that here and he wasn't about to throw some spoiled kid tantrum. he hadn't always been this well-off and he wasn't that spoiled. he didn't think he was anyway. looking down at the menu in front of him somewhat distractedly, rémy didn't really expect cerise to reach for his hand, but he let her anyway, squeezing her hand lightly to let her know it was okay. he liked holding cerise's hand. he sighed as she then brought the whole thing up, looking down at her holding his hand, feeling unsure as to what he was supposed to say still. this wasn't helping. ''i know ceri'' he started quietly, even if he had to say that her cheating on him still made him doubt that. and he felt that was within reason. ''and you know i love you, but ... am i supposed to just let this slide?'' he asked, honestly voicing his thoughts. he wished he could. part of him did anyway. he didn't want this to ruin their marriage; he loved this woman or else he wouldn't have asked her to marry him and well ... yeah. this was just fucked up and he hated it.

cerise played with the napkins that rested in front of her, staring at him as he spoke. god. this cheating thing would always be a bad idea, but it was even worse now that he found out. she hook her head slowly at him, "no, rémy. of course not. i just want the guarantee that you're going to let me try and fix this, and not walk out on me. i'm so afraid that you're going to, and… i don't want to lose you. do you even know what would happen if you left me? i'd… i'd be lost!" she kept her voice low, checking to see if she was bothering any of the other people within the large, aromatic building. she looked up as footsteps approached her and the waitress set their drinks down. reaching into a pouch in her apron, she pulled out a pad of paper and pen, waiting for their order. at that, ceri just piped up loudly, "um. a large hawaiian pizza?" she said, flicking her eyes to rémy real quick. cerise nodded her head quick as a sign that that was all. ripping the paper off, the waitress began to walk toward the back to prepare their dinner. cerise scooted closer to the table, looking at him.
"i'm just so used to everything, you know? waking up next to you and making you breakfast. actually being excited for you to come home, and staying up late when i could pass out. yeah, it's stressful. but everyone makes mistakes, and i would never trade anything for those memories, or even you. if there's anything that you need -- anything at all, just… just say it, rémy. i would do anything for you, even if it hurt me in the end. just to keep you here with me, and happy. i don't want us to divorce because then what? either we're going to be on bad terms, or may as well be strangers. it will be like these past years have never happened. i just… you're wonderful, rémy. i don't want to lose you." she whispered, a fake smile replaced her expression and quickly remaining that way. the small bit of silence that would sit was the only thing holding her together. it was all that was keeping her from once again breaking down. she didn't want to make a scene. but she needed to plea with him. if he hadn't already decided to stay, she was hoping that this somehow would switch his view. maybe he would see how much he really did mean to her, despite the cheating. she meant it when she said she'd do anything, even if it somehow hurt her… of course, if it was only within reason.

leaving wasn't really what rémy wanted. well. part of him did want it. the thought of just packing his bags and flying off to some faraway country to try and start all over again had crossed his mind, and he'd considered just leaving, but he knew things would never be that easy. he didn't really want to leave cerise, and even if he did want to he couldn't just up and leave. there would be the whole divorce procedure and from what rémy had gathered so far cerise didn't want things to be over, which actually, honestly confused him. if she loved him so much and she wanted him to stay with her, then why the hell did she go through the whole cheating thing. he just couldn't wrap his head around that. why did she do it? sure, she said it was because of the lack of attention he had given her and yes, he could sort of admit that she had a point about him not being home a lot, but he couldn't understand why she felt the need to find herself random guys to sleep with. it was for the attention, why not ... hang out with friends, do other things like that. why not talk to him about it and ask him to be home more? apparently that hadn't even crossed her mind coz she felt as if she shouldn't ask such a thing because he was always so busy. she made it seem like he couldn't make time for his wife and he didn't want her to think that. she was important to him. regardless of the cheating, he cared about her, deeply, and that was why he didn't want this to be over any more than cerise wanted it to be over. at least. he hoped she didn't want it to be over, because if that was the case this was hardly worth fighting for.
but no. cerise said she wanted the chance to make things right. which was great and all, except her making things right would probably be her asking rémy what she could do to make things right and honestly? rémy didn't have a clue. he didn't want to say it out loud, but he was hurt. she had betrayed him, his trust, his love, whatever one wished to call it, and it had all happened right under his nose as well! she brought those bastards home to their ... to their home. he lived there. he paid for the place. the thought of these guys coming over, cerise sleeping with them in their house it was just disturbing to him. he had half a mind requesting they move somewhere else. that might help. rémy signed. ''i don't want to hurt you cerise. payback isn't going to solve anything'' he said, moreso mumbled, not wanting to discuss this too loudly. maybe going to a public place hadn't been a good idea, but then again being here would stop them both from causing a scene. hopefully. not that rémy was intending on causing a scene, but still. ''and i don't know what you can do to solve this right now. i just .. it's not like you can just .. i don't know. buy me something shiny and hope it'll distract me. you cheated on me cerise, that's .. that's pretty big'' he said, feeling ever so stupid and lame and lost for pointing that out. he really never expected this to happen. ''it's not something i can just forgive you for, i think. it's not like i don't love you anymore, but the fact that i love you kind of just makes this whole thing ... i don't know. hurt more.'' there. he even admitted to being hurt right out in the open and it did make him feel like some sort of ... wimp for admitting that, but still. it was true. and the truth mattered most.

cerise hated this. she wanted to reach out and press a kiss to his lips, as if it would make everything go away. whenever she had been a child, a simple kiss to any 'boo-boo' fixed everything. she would be able to swing her arms around her parents and whisper an apology, and everything would be forgotten. why couldn't things be like that anymore? she would have loved for this all to be behind them, but that was impossible. the damage had been done, and she screwed over his trust. she no longer knew what to do. it was not natural for her to cheat. hell, she had never even done it before. chewing on her bottom lip, cerise tugged at her shirt and then shrugged at him. god, if she ever needed to know what to say toward anything, now would be that moment. she had become a broken record with her statements of 'i love you'. taking a sip of her water, ceri stared at him and shook her head.
"no. i know that, rémy. and i'm sorry. i feel like a horrible person. but i can't say anything else to you. nothing besides 'i love you' and 'i'm sorry'…" she stated nervously, not knowing how to soothe him. maybe a subject change was in order. she fumbled around her mind, thinking of different subjects. one that was safe. cerise finally salvaged one, "so… um… you look really attractive tonight, rémy. i bet that you have a lot of wandering eyes on you," she giggled. that was a light subject. it wouldn't get her anywhere, but it calmed her nerves and the chaos that was unleashed in her mind. reaching for her water, she sipped at it gingerly, mentally scowling at the taste of it. putting it down on the table with a quiet thud. there was really nothing they could go on about with the cheating unless he asked questions. as far as she knew, she cleaned everything out of that closet that she could. all that she could do was give her sorry's and i love you's to him. she nervously spun the object around her finger that was supposed to eternally bind herself to him. something that embodied their love and trust. what trust? a guilty feeling fell over her and she sighed. her hands quickly, yet calmly, fell back down to the table's surface, "you smell nice, too," he usually did carry quite a nice smell around with him. something that cerise wanted to smother herself in while she slept. it had not been like that for the past few days, however. cerise had made the couch her bed. the bed was no longer a safe, welcome place for her.
