What a quaint little town this was, the busiest place she had seen in a very long time; What… ten years? Had it been that long since she had decided to actually rest anywhere? It seemed like she had been wandering forever, unable to find any place in the United States that would let her feel some sort of serenity. She had begun to consider possibly going international when she had randomly stumbled upon this Kansas town, and the minute she entered she knew she wasn’t leaving for a while. Its lights were so bright, its humans undeniably tempting, every single thing about the town teased her and begged her to stay. An excitement she had not felt in a while sent a rush through her veins, her clever mind beginning to turn as she slowed her lovely blood red Mercedes down to a crawl. People milled about on the sidewalks to and fro as the went about their business, ignoring the fact that the streets lamps were flickering on and darkness was quickly approaching. In the towns she had previously drove through, if the night was coming you got in doors and locked them fast; if you were still outside, there was probably a reason. Rivka shuddered slightly as she remembered the revolting cities she had passed during her trek, and she found herself missing her ritzy town in which her beautiful manor resided. That was the best fucking bed she had ever slept in, and she would kill anyone to have it back.
Interrupting her memories a man suddenly jumped out from the sidewalk in front of her car, and by instinct alone Rie stomped on the break to avoid hitting him. A feral snarl rised from her throat but the man just looked at her with a peculiar smile, then continued to walk on. Irritated now Rivka pulled her car over to the curb disregarding the hydrant placed just two feet from her Mercedes, bent on punishing the asshole that would dare put her car in danger. Getting out with a swish of fabric the vampire looked around, her acute eyesight scanning the entire street for the stranger she has seen moments before. To her amazement he was no where to be seen, making Rivka wonder if she had only imagined it. Shutting the door to her car she began to walk down the street, pondering silently the prospect of this town being more than she had suspected before. A sudden grin pulled at the corners of her lips with this thought, and randomly, the woman turned to continue walking down the alley. Entering onto another street Rivka wasted no time and made her way toward the bar, opening the door as soon as she reached it. Multiple scents hit her like a brick as soon as she entered, a mix of liquor, smoke, and foul odors. There was the bar toward the back with booths lining the sides, tables in the middle and a staircase leading upstairs over in the corner. Rivka’s blue eyes scanned everything quickly as she made her way in farther, her interest piqued.
Clearly this was not your average bar, you would have to be an idiot not to see that. This being her first day in the town though she knew nothing, and this disadvantage really pissed her off. Sitting down upon one of the stools at the bar, Rivka watched with amusement as the bartender turned to watch her with disdain, drying a glass. Sure she may stand out a little, but she never really cared for fitting in. When the girl didn’t speak the bartender set the glass down, his gruff voice breaking the silence between the two as he said, “You gunna drink something or just sit there.” Smiling sweetly, the blonde vampire leaned forward and let her golden hair fall over her shoulders across her chest. Her eyes bored into his as she observed him, her hand tracing lines on the wooden counter. “Yes. Another bottle of rum for me and my friend over there please.” With a dazed blink the bartender left to grab what she asked and place a small glass beside it, then went back to drying his dishes. Clutching her contraband she turned and began to walk toward a booth, toward the brunette girl she had seen the moment she entered the bar. A mask slipped over her face as she approached, not bothering to ask but taking the liberty to slide into the booth across from her, “Evening.”
Rivka’s voice was soft and smooth, a charming melody that always seemed to put people at ease. She hated being loud and abrasive, obnoxious sounds drove her a bit crazy and made her want to slit the throat of anyone who made them from ear to ear. The woman before her was pretty, possibly in her twenties like Rivka. She seemed to be in thought over something, her posture making it appear as if the woman wasn’t in the best of moods. That was ok, Rie never took anything personal. Her head cocked slightly to the side as she watched the brunette before her, disappointed slightly when she did not speak. Deciding she should be the first to start a conversation since she had been the one to sit down, Rivka leaned back upon the seat and began to speak. “Name’s Rivka. I saw you from across the bar, and I knew we would be friends. Well, at least that’s what I told the bartender. Tell me your name.” The bottle of Captain Morgans sat untouched in the middle of the table as Rivka inquired about the woman across her, her blue eyes full of sincere interest as she waited. Fiddling with the grey ribbon of her dress absent-mindedly, the vampire wondered why instinct told her that like this town, there was a lot more to this girl than met the eye.
