"i believe you should take your leave. rémy will soon be home." cerise's voice echoed through the quiet bedroom. cerise called this moment the possible 'calm before the storm'. if her husband arrived home early, he could catch her with this man. yet, he always seemed to arrive home on time, when her newest prey seemed to have escaped to god knows where. the man who was invading their bedroom said no words. he pulled on his jeans, a light clinking noise being made as he did the belt in a hurried timing. he missed the belt loops a few times. with a few extra seconds, it was done up and he started tugging his shirt on over his upper body. cerise slowly slid from her spot on the bed, tugging on the wrinkles in the soft fabric of the sheets to pull out any wrinkles. her paranoid mind had went over this several hundred times and more. enough to put any sane, functioning man inside a drab mental facility. making the bed, she went on her own way to get dressed, paying no mind to her disposable lover. she heard feet pattering against the floor in a steady rhythm, signaling his departure from the grandiose mansion. usually words would be exchanged and an occasional peck on the lips. this time, however, was different. they had spent a few minutes extra on useless conversation.
cerise pulled on her knee length skirt and soon followed that with a blouse. a lot of people liked to mock her on the rather sophisticated and posh image she maintained. cerise had always been quite a well kept woman. it put off a lot of people that were more into the partying scene. walking into the bathroom, she grabbed the nearest perfume that her soft and elegant hands landed on, only to bring it up to her and squeeze the nozzle. a few mists and she smelled decent. almost like her infidelity had never happened. then she combed through her hair messily before pulling it into a lazy ponytail. stepping out, she made a beeline for the kitchen. it was a bit of a walk for her tired legs, but she did it. through the brightly colored walls of the main hall and right into the large aqua colored room with an egg white, floral pattern on it.
her footsteps lightly echoed, bouncing off of the walls as she opened the fridge. inside was dinner from tonight. this was so routine for her. cerise would stay up later than she should, just to wait up for him and somehow let him know that she loved him. she was always doing this. cerise was always the one sucking up, clinging to any ounce of attention that she could earn. whether it happened to just be him kissing her, doing something kind, or even more than that. everything was welcome. she always felt as if she was placed on the back burner. cerise may as well have been the food that would be left to rot in the fridge, not even being noticed after the pungent smell escalated and spread around. shoving his plate into the microwave, she pressed a few digits on the device and pressed start. it hummed to life as she took a seat at the table. a loud, ear deafening yawn fell from her vocal chords and shot out into the air. her head gently fell to the table and she rested her head down on it in defeat. she was going to stay awake. however, her head suddenly felt rather heavy from all the exhaustion.

sometimes rémy wondered whether or not his job was worth it. worth spending so little time with his wife, worth never really getting to see his family, but in the end he figured that he owed it all to himself. and that he had to keep the job, just so he didn't have to go around saying he had spent a good 13 years of his life on an education that he wasn't using. he was using it now. he was a doctor and hell, he was proud to be a doctor, when he got his degree, when he got the official title, it was like finally all the hard work had paid off. but sometimes he did have doubts. today had been a bit of a slow day to be quite honest, apparently miami wasn't home to a lot of accidents today and it was kind of a nice thing. he was glad for his friends at the hospital, because even if it was a slow day he was still the guy in charge of the surgery department right now; his own boss being out of town for a convention, and really, he had no choice but to stay put and to do his job. he couldn't just leave when he wanted to. he had to work to the end of his shift and then he would be allowed to go, only to start the whole process all over again. at least things were finally starting to look up schedule wise. it seemed that lately he was actually allowed to leave when his shift ended and people didn't bother him about one last emergency case that the guy who was supposed to take over from him couldn't handle. and he liked it. he still wasn't home at what you would call a decent time, but he wouldn't be nearly as grumpy when he did get home.
today was no exception to this rule. it did happen a lot that he got home, grumpy as hell because people had been getting on his nerves and hadn't been doing things right and well ... it happened a lot. some of the interns especially, the new ones, they really worked on his nerves because they seemed to be incapable of doing anything right and though he knew he shouldn't look at it like that because he remembered full well what being an intern had been like, he just did. he did know that setting up a heart line could be hard, he'd messed up quite some times himself as an intern, but now it just annoyed him. part of him felt bad for that, felt like a jerk really. he didn't want to be the workaholic bad guy, he really didn't, but working in a hospital generally didn't work wonders for your nerves. things had to go right the first time, or a patient would be even more fucked up then before they got to the hospital, and he didn't want to be the one responsible for the intern that messed up. but really. right now he was in a good mood. today things had gone well. the interns seemed to be getting the hang of things, no one died on his watch and well, he was going to be home on time. this was somewhat of a rare occasion, so he was proud of himself for being on time, really. he was.
he loved his place. he really did. the house was beautiful and he really did think he and cerise made the right call when deciding to buy this place. it was somewhat frustrating that he didn't get to spend nearly as much time at home as he would've liked to, but he couldn't help that right now. he was home as much as he could, and mostly he figured that would have to do. it wasn't like he didn't want to be at home after all; he loved spending time with his gorgeous wife and though he thought that he didn't show it enough, he really did love the woman. rémy always enjoyed driving home after a long day at the hospital, it was nice and relaxing and it generally put his mind at ease. so when he pulled into the driveway he was pretty much relaxed, and he got out, leaving his jacket in the car and heading straight for the front door, inserting his key and turning the lock before pushing the somewhat huge doors open. he smiled lightly upon walking in, closing the door behind him as he tried to figure out where he would be able to find cerise. he thought he smelled something coming from the kitchen, so he decided that would probably be his best try, and he started heading in that direction. upon walking in he smiled at the sight he was met with. cerise seemed to be asleep, and the microwave just announced that his meal was done being heated up. he pushed the button to open the microwave and then headed over to his wife, giving his food a bit to cool off. he wrapped his arms around the blond from behind, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek. ''cerise? you awake?'' he questioned quietly, not sure if he wanted to wake her up if she wasn't. he would like some company, but just the thought of her wanting to stay up to see him was nice enough as well. sort of anyway.

cerise was startled a little by the rather familiar and handsome voice of her husband. she had began to fall into a half slumber. lethargically, she pushed herself up slowly and looked at him. her tired eyes could barely make out his face at first. once her eyes allowed her to focus, cerise showed a bright smile. he was home. he was finally home. what was only several hours seemed like an eternity for her. rubbing at her eyes, she twisted herself around to gently fit her arms around him in a hug. she was far too lazy to stand up. "i put supper in the mi..." she stopped herself as she whipped back around and seen that he had already grabbed the reheated morsels. cerise had done her best to spoil him tonight by cooking him some of his favorites. it was the least she could really do for him after what she had pulled. cerise felt guilty after hooking up with any man. even thinking about another man. he was doing his job, and he was supporting the both of them. of course, they were far from poor. but... that never amounted to what she really wanted. cerise wanted things to be like they used to be, when they would have more time for each other. lately, things hadn't been all too bad. he had a little more time for her, and his annoying pager had not been going off as much. she felt as if she were in a war with that device. she was conflicted. when it went off, that meant he had someone to go help. yet, she felt awful for sometimes wishing that he could ignore it.
even if he did not mean to push her aside, she would always feel like his last priority. sliding her seat back, she stood up lazily and sauntered over to grab a wine glass and some wine. pouring him a glass, she set it down on the table for him. it was normal for cerise to cater to every whim and suck up to him. "so. work went well, i can presume?" she questioned as she once more took a seat on one of the wooden seats at the table. if asked how her day went, she would lie. that was what she was good at. too bad that she had formed some kind of an addiction. it was nice being the one that was waited on for once. someone that people would not leave in the middle of dinner, or deep, meaningful conversation. cerise would finally feel important and that she was placed on a pedestal. of course, she would always feel guilty, because no matter how many men found their way into bed with her, she would always love her husband just the same. these other men were merely replacements for when he was gone. when those several hours felt like an eternity for her.
now, rémy had never been a bad husband in the least. but everything had just... fizzled. it was not even the marriage's fault. everyone said that once two people were married, everything died down. but that had not been true. it was because of the lack of time spent together. but she was not about to sit him down, telling him that there was a lack of romance or attention in their marriage. he could not help it, and she was honestly afraid of putting even more stress on his plate than he deserved. she was just hoping that all this would be done and over with before he could find out. wiping at her tired eyes one last time, she finally felt awake enough to hold up a conversation with him. the excitement of him just being home was enough to keep her up. "... what time is it?" she asked. cerise had paid no mind to any clocks while in the midst of her rush to prepare for his arrival.

if there was one thing that was nice to come home to it was that smile on cerise's face when she greeted him. the way she seemed half awake made him feel momentarily bad about rousing her, but well ... she would have to move to bed anyway, right? and though he could probably, maybe, managed to carry her up the stairs, the way to the bedroom was ... well it was a long way, seeing as the house they lived in really was rather huge. and he liked it like that, because it was a bit of a childhood dream of his to live in a really big house like that, but that didn't mean he would be very willing to carry his sleeping wife up a dozen flights of stairs. he loved her, really, he did, but waking her up was easier. and she did stay up, which he figured was because she was waiting for him because no one else lived her so that was probably save to assume right? right. anyway though. he smiled at the hug he received, keeping his arms wrapped around cerise a moment longer before he let her go, heading back over to the microwave and taking his plate from in there, putting it down on the table opposite of where cerise was sitting. he heard what she said and grinned lightly, holding up his plate to show her he already got his plate from there. he really loved that she was thoughtful enough to make him dinner and then reheat it before he got home, it was the most amazing thing ever to come back home to. ''thank you'' he said genuinely, wanting to let her know he didn't underappreciate even the smallest gestures. coz he felt like he had been underappreciating thinkgs lately, and he didn't like that thought. grabbing himself some cutlery he then moved to sit down, sighing lightly in content. it really was amazing to be home and to just eat proper dinner because really, the cafeteria food at the hospital kinda sucked. and he was forced to eat there a lot more than he liked. so really, proper food? delicious.
he dug into the food, kind of really hungry because he'd had one or two emergencies before his shift ended and he hardly had time to get some food in his system. so really, as said before. this food was just amazing. he looked up from the food when cerise spoke up, smiling after he swallowed his bite. ''yeah, it wasn't too busy and i got to leave on time, miraculously so, so yeah. good day'' he said, nodding lightly along with what he was saying. he loved getting to leave on time. most days it meant getting to spend some time with his lovely wife, and he knew he didn't really get to spend a lot of time with her lately so that was definitely a good thing. now rémy was no good with apologising, which he also didn't like, because there were a lot of people out there who he thought he owed an apology to, starting with his wife, and ending with ... well most people in his direct environment because there were only a few people who he didn't neglect and those were the people that he worked with. and he was around those people all day long, so it would be kind of hard to neglect and/or ignore them. even if most he talked about at work was ... well. work. cases. patients. it was usually what you did when you talked to people at work. talk about actual work.
anyway though. he enjoyed his meal, and he finished his sooner than later, leaning back in his seat, looking at his watch when cerise asked for the time, only coming to the conclusion that he yet to get that fixed. the damned thing had stopped working two days ago and he was a bit too busy. ''eh ... late?'' he therefore offered, because he was quite sure that it was. getting up, he moved to the counter to clean up his plate and cutlery, putting both in the dishwasher before moving over to where cerise was sitting, wrapping his arms back around her. ''thanks for staying up ceri'' he said, meaning it. he really did like coming home to her waiting up for him. ''so how was your day?'' he then asked, refusing to unwrap his arms from around ceri just yet, even if it was slightly uncomfortable to stand like this, but he really didn't care. he just wanted to talk to ceri for a change, because he was in a good mood and because his job was so stressful, he came home grumpy more often than not and he would just go straight to bed. which was probably another thing he was supposed to apologise for, but. yeah. ah well.

the thank you sparked a smile within her. she knew he took nothing that she did for granted. however, it was nice to hear that he was thankful. playing the always positive wife, she looked at him and shook her head, her messy ponytail swaying from side to side as she did so, "no thank you's are necessary, rémy. i do care about you. that means making sure you have healthy food to eat when you arrive home." cerise smiled proudly at him, her eyebrows raising slowly. it always felt great to hear those words coming from him. even for something as little as re heating a plate so that he would not be hungry. she sat in silence as he ate, not bothering to head to bed just yet. this was a miniscule chance for catching up. she was silently toying around with an idea in her mind. if he had any free time, they could go out. yeah, that was unlikely. cerise could be quite the dreamer at times. she sat up straight, slowly raising her hands to pull the elastic band from her hair. it did not take a genius to figure that he had a good day at work. one that was not coated in ignorant interns and things gone awry. he was being friendly, and more talkative than the nights he would come home and go right to sleep. he was much easier to talk to. "it's easy to tell, honey." she remarked in reply.
a chuckle announced her amusement. late. well, that was a very specific answer. shaking her head, her eyes trailed after his form as he placed the dirty dish into the dishwasher. a smile slowly appeared as he then found his way to her, wrapping his arms around her somewhat curvy frame. she slowly rose from her position on the seat, not enjoying the awkward arrangement they were in. she slid her arms around him and then rested her head against him. cerise could have remained this way forever and be pleased with that in its own. gently nuzzling her head against him, she just decided to give a simple answer to his second thank you, "i love you, rémy." she muttered in a barely detectible tone. it was these moments. the most tender ones, that would clearly dig at her. knowing that everything he was thankful for was nothing but deception, if looked at from a certain point of view. she loved him and could stand being this way forever, but he believed she was loyal. that she would never hurt him. she could sugar coat her own cheating and trysts all she wanted. but it all came down to the same thing -- she was stabbing him straight in the back.
"i did not do very much. i went out with a few of my girlfriends. however, i did not purchase anything." cerise scrunched up her face and chuckled. she had never been a power shopper. growing up, she had always been in a well off family. one that could buy her what she pleased. after so long of getting everything to make her heart content, she had given up. nothing that she bought made her any happier than the day before. it would all go bad and be tossed out, or grow out of style. due to that, she never seemed to shop too much. she slid her hands up to cup his face before finally pecking him on the lips in a simple kiss. her lips lingered for a fraction of a moment before she pulled away and beamed at him, "i did miss you quite a bit." she finally added to the list of things she had done throughout the day. yes, even when she was with another man, he was still invading her mind, slowly tearing her apart and letting guilt slowly seep in. no man would ever amount to him. never.

rémy never liked coming home when the shenanigans that went down at the hospital would ruin his mood. he didn't like impeding his mood upon cerise because it wasn't her fault that things went bad at the hospital, but he just knew that if she was around he would take his frustration out on her and though that wasn't something he was proud of, he still knew it to be true. he would feel bad though, really bad, when she would look at him after he snapped at her and he just ... he never wanted to hurt her. never. and snapping at her made him feel like a dick, but of course, when he was in the shitty mindset, he would feel as if it was her fault for talking to him when she knew that he was in a bad mood. but of course that was kind of ridiculous. he knew he could have a bad temper though. he always preferred being able to leave his hospital troubles back at the hospital, but the thing about being a doctor ... well, it was just a job that you took home with you. when he failed to save someone after said person was brought in, or he had to tell someone that a loved one had died, it still got to him. after all these years, it still got to him. he remembered the first time he had to tell someone their loved one had died, well, they probably took the news better than he did. it's not like he burst out in tears or something equally unprofessional, but it was just that he hated telling people the bad news. he usually tried to get his interns or whoever else was around to deliver the bad news, but he knew that, when he was the attending surgeon, he had to be the one to tell them what happened. it was such a typical speech to give people though. 'we tried everything we could, but i'm afraid we couldn't save your father'. every doctor, intern, nurse and everyone else at the hospital had it memorised, and sadly you couldn't really forget it, because it happened a lot that you had to apply it. sadly. michael liked to think that he could save most of his patients though. and well, his statistics were pretty positive. as far as saving people went anyway.
''hm well i like coming home to you staying up and a nice meal in the microwave, so still. thanks. i'm glad you care'' rémy said in response to what cerise said, smiling at his wife. there were countless times that he wondered what the hell he'd done to deserve such an amazing wife like her. he didn't particularly feel like lingering on how he thought he really wasn't worth all her trouble, but he did think that. he was hardly ever at home, the amount of time he was there had its ups and downs and there had been times that he was home more often than he was right now, but still. he felt bad about not being around, but someone did have to make the money in this family, even if he wasn't saying that cerise couldn't make her own money or something. he knew she could take care of herself. but he liked taking care of her himself as well though. he liked providing her with whatever it was she wanted, even if sometimes he realised that maybe all she wanted was to just see him more. without meaning to sound vain of course, but he loved her and he would absolutely love to spend more time with her. sometimes he wished he could combine things better; maybe get her a job at the hospital so he could see her more often and they could sneak of together when they felt like it. yeah. that would be amusing and distracting, but hey. he'd love it. he smiled somewhat sheepishly at the blond as she told him she could tell that he'd had a good day. he wasn't sure if that was a good thing actually; because it did mean it was also easy for her to tell when he had a bad day, but well .. he wasn't going to linger on those thoughts.
he couldn't help but smile widely when cerise got up and wrapped her arms around him in return, and he pulled her closer to him. he really missed getting to do this more often. he loved just holding her close. it was mostly the little things he missed when he was this busy. just spending time with her. yeah. ''love you too'' he said, instantly returning the affectionate words, because he did love cerise, a whole lot, and he appreciated her a lot more than he let on. he still thought he had to work on that. he grinned lightly at ceri's description of her day, finding it somewhat amusing she found it necessary to point out that she didn't buy a lot. he knew she wasn't really the type to buy a lot. when she leant in to peck his lips rémy let his eyes fall shut, smiling at the light kiss and at her saying she missed him. ''hm i always miss you, you're much better company than the people at the hospital'' he pointed out honestly. if he could hang out with cerise all day long instead of working at the hospital? well he would do it. he would miss working, but he would do it. or well, he said that right now, but he would probably have second thoughts at some point. he loved working at the hospital and helping people and ... well he loved cerise as well, he just really wished there was a better way to combine things.

standing so close to him and having his arms wrapped around her so tightly made her feel secure. she never wanted him to let go. he would have never been allowed to return to work if it were up to cerise. she balled her fists, clutching a little of the fabric of his shirt as she did so. his return of an 'i love you' warmed the deepest trenches of her heart. actions spoke louder than words. it was an honest statement. but that did not mean words were meaningless. he could hug and kiss her all he wanted. even sleep with her as he pleased. but nothing would ever have the affect on her that those three words did. they would always find a way to manipulate her mood like mold, carefully crafting it into one of the greatest and lightest feelings in the world. she said no words and just allowed herself to stand in silence, her forehead against his body.
every statement he made just further ached her heart. the fact that she was not who he believed her to be. it hurt that she was letting him down unknowingly. she was such a great wife, right? cerise had convinced herself that she mainly did most of this not only to spoil him, but somehow make herself feel much better about the situation she had forced herself into. she could come out any time, but she felt so much more alone when she was sitting home alone in silence. it was something her female friends could not cure. they would always have stories about their latest squeeze. cute ones that just oozed of so much cuteness that a kitten would become envious. what did cerise have? no stories, apart from ones they heard. she appreciated him a lot, but it was just the damn work. god.
her hands slid down, and then back up under the fabric of his shirt. her small fingers gently prodded at his skin that she had memorized and forever stained within the confines of her mind. "well, i would like to hope that they do not compare. just look at what i have to offer." cerise snorted. no, that would be crossing a line if for some reason, his patients were more entertaining to be around. her eyes blinked lazily at him before morphing into a pleading expression. now was just as much a good time to ask as any other. "rémy, i was thinking. we should go out for dinner sometime, or to do something romantic. i miss the romance and passion." those last words were lucky that had come out. if they hadn't, she would have said something she regretted. something to make her sound conceited. those were things she did not want to get into. pressing her lips into his a few more times, cerise smiled in a satisfied, lazy manner. "it could… ignite a few things. we have not done anything romantic for a long time." cerise concluded, like a child that was begging to have the latest trend. this was possibly a bad idea. if he said yes, what were the chances they would last the whole dinner. without interruptions? slim, at most. his pager seemed to go off at the most crucial times.

sadly, the moment where rémy got to just relax and hold cerise close like this were rare, and though rémy figured that made them both appreciate them more, the moment, he also knew that it just tended to bug him. if he could make cerise follow him around all day just so he could have her close and randomly hug and kiss her when he felt like it, he would, but he knew that was slightly unrealistic. he couldn't help but linger on thoughts like that, no matter how much he kept telling himself he should think positive thoughts. but the truth of the matter was that most of the time, he was stuck at the hospital and cerise was at home and he really did hope she wasn't bored or anything because he didn't want her to lead some sort of terrible life just because he was so deadset on working the job he loved. he'd worked hard to get where he was, but to be quite honest? he would drop it all for cerise. really, he would, and sometimes he thought he should because she would be worth it. she would so be worth it; he had no doubts about that whatsoever. but then she never asked him if he wanted to drop everything just so he could be at home more often, and as long as she didn't ask he wouldn't think too much about it. he was like that. rémy was the first to notice that there was something that had to be discussed, but he was the last to actually start the discussion. he always left that to the other person, because he was the kind of person that would put things off. he made exceptions to that rule when it came to his work, because putting of a surgery was never really a good idea. obviously.
now the thought of cerise being unfaithful had never even so much as crossed rémy's mind, which maybe was a bit of a foolish thing, but he just trusted his wife and the thought of her cheating on him... well he thought it was somewhat ridiculous. little did he know, right? and really, what with the amount of dramas and flings that took place at the hospital, maybe he should be paranoid about something happening, but hey. but really though; there was a lot going on at the hospital, and there were times that it really got under rémy's skin because his interns would be too busy caring about their personal drama, and he really didn't want to be the hardass attending doctor, but sometimes they acted like little kids and he felt like he was teaching a high school class and that bugged him. when he was working he was in a very serious mindset, and people messing around were generally something that got on his nerves. thankfully though, people had behaved today, which lead to him beinig in a pretty damned good mood and he kind of really liked coming home in a good mood for a cahnge. he felt like he was always being a grumpy old pain in the ass when he got home, and he wanted to ... well, be good company for cerise when he got home, not some grumbling mess who just wanted to sleep. sadly though. it happened more often that he was a grumbling mess than he was a happy go lucky guy. yeah. he had to work on that really.
the feeling of fingers sliding up under his shirt brought a smile to rémy's face, and he kept his eyes closed and held cerise close, humming softly at what she said. he always felt somewhat silly for coming home in his hospital outfit; some people thought it made one look like a figure of autority, but outside of the hospital rémy thought it made you look like a clown. quite simple. but anyway. ''oh yes, you have much more to offer'' he said with a slight grin in reply to what ceri said before. he rested his forehead against ceri's as she spoke again, and he sighed lightly at her offer. he was all for going out, really, but he knew it was going to be a hassle, he just knew it. still though. ''we should go on holiday somewhere'' he suggested, smiling lightly. that sounded like a better plan to him. holiday meant that he had the chance to get away far enough to be unpagerable for the people back at mercy. hopefully anyway. he wasn't sure what to say in response to cerise admitting she missed the passion and the romance, not sure if he was supposed to be offended or if he should just say he learned his lesson or something. he dismissed any thoughts relating to that, instead smiling at the light kisses pressed to his lips, returning them briefly before grinning lightly at what ceri said. ''yeah. i think we should go on holiday. get away from everything. somehow'' he said, actually quite liking the idea of leaving the country with ceri and relaxing in some sunny place. that would be pretty amazing when you thought about it. ''i should be able to get off from work for a while'' he pointed out, really hoping he could keep to that because experience taught that people changed their minds on occasin. but he would love to just get out for a while, with cerise. it would be amazing, no doubt about it.

cerise smiled softly. the feeling of his arms securely grasping her was a feeling that she would only understand. maybe people would find it silly that she somehow hung onto every word that he spoke and she fought so much just to get a minute's time with him. but this was her husband. she had taken vows to be with him forever, thick or thin. no matter the situation. so she was not about to ignore the problem and exacerbate the situation. cerise had never minded his hospital garb, as long as he was in front of her. what would be a problem is if he would never return home at all, no traces leading to where he was. he could have come home in a clown suit and she could have cared less about that, too. he was still her husband. the person who she had decided to marry because he was charming. cranky, sometimes. but charming when you could look past those small little quirks. as odd as it sounded, cerise enjoyed trying to cheer him up whenever he was down or grumpy. she would rather him not be either of those, but it made her feel good to try and play the roles of not only his caring wife, but best friend.
the thought of a vacation was relaxing. they could do as they pleased with no interruptions. no leaving in the middle of a dinner that she worked so hard to put together. she would be spending all day with him, rather than a small amount of time in the middle of the night. that, on top of seeing new sights. it was a genius idea, and she would have thrown it out. but it was much better for him to. he was the one with the tight schedule. she was nothing more than a mere housewife. he brought in the income while she just held the fort down. even if all she did was clean and cook. someone had to do that or nothing would get done and the large home would look crummy. "that would be amazing, rémy." she whispered soothingly to him. as the minutes rolled by, she felt more and more exhausted. she could have fallen asleep like this. his voice was like a lullaby for her right now. but she was fighting the urge to close her eyes. she wanted to stay awake and spend whatever time she had with him for the night. reluctantly, she pulled her arms from around him and stepped back. instantly, she felt the absence of his body against her own.
"did you have any places that you have been wanting to visit?" she inquired, turning and starting to walk toward the direction of her bedroom. she knew that if she did not find her bed soon, she was going to topple over and fall asleep on the hardwood floor. she was having a hard enough time concentrating and thinking before speaking. he would know to just follow her. if she was up for another hour at the most, it would be some kind of miracle. something about staying up and walking around all over with someone that was not your husband, only to bring them back and sleep with them exhausted her. her emotions, too. the guilt would always weigh her down quite heavily. it wasn't her usual schedule of how things went, but it had happened tonight. fortunately, the crime scene had been completely rid of any evidence. "come on, we can discuss it in bed if you would like. i am really tired." cerise yawned, stretching her arms slowly.

rémy always thought that there were tons of people out in the world who had second thoughts about decisions they made, and there were even more people out there who regretted decisions they made and wished they weren't stuck in the place they were right at that moment in time, and he really didn't want to be that kind of person himself. because really; he loved his job. saving people, curing people, making sure people don't die, giving people hope ... it was amazing. he'd always liked taking care of others, and that was something that wasn't going to change. so really, his job, he'd always known he wanted to become a doctor, from when he was little boy on out. no he wasn't the little kid who went around playing doctor with everyone, but he was the kind of person who would walk around with a bandage around his arm when he wasn't even hurt, because he wanted to be good at wrapping a bandage around places. and he once gave his dog a cast when the poor thing wasn't even hurt, but of course he hadn't exactly meant the creature harm. he liked practicing stuff though; during his intern period he'd taken the piece of pig skin you get to practice stitching on home with him, and he'd stitched a lot of other things together. he'd even gotten the chance to stitch up one of his friends who just so happened to cut herself on something and who trusted him enough to let him practice on her. it had went well, for the record.
anyway though. he'd known he wanted to do this for a long time, but if there was one thing he was always honest about towards his interns, it was that this job could suck the life right out of you. he had this speech that he would give the new interns, and he would start by telling them that he wasn't telling them this because he wanted to discourage them. because being a doctor is amazing, but there were some things those people needed to know. the hours were terrible. you were never really off or away from work, coz you had to keep your pager with you and most of the time you were on call. and whenever you were on call, you could pretty much bet on being called by the hospital and having to come in. sleeping at the hospital was incredibly annoying because either people would be loud outside of the recovering room for the doctors, or people would constantly wake you up because they needed help. he was honest about these kind of things because he knew from his own experience that he hadn't expected the whole internship to have such a drastic impact on his personal life. but it did.
rémy was glad that cerise liked his plan. he really hoped that this time around he would be able to pull this whole thing off. but he would make sure of it. heck, he'd go up to the chief tomorrow and he'd ask him if it was possible, and heck, he'd even go as far as to find someone to fill in for him for a while. seriously though, the boss had a wife and kids as well, if anyone was to be understanding of rémy's situation it was him. and he was a pretty nice guy in general, so he really did hope he would be able to pull this off. he'd never really asked for much from his boss; he was generally always there, he'd even worked christmasses over the years and well ... he figured he deserved a bit of a break. and if that didn't work, he could always fake a mental break down. that was the backup plan though. rémy reluctantly unwrapped his arms from around ceri when she stepped back, letting his hands slide down her arms, not really wanting her to step away from him. he shrugged lightly at his wife's question. ''i don't have anything specific in mind. but we could always go to france; i could show you around where i grew up'' he offered with a slight smile. he'd like going back to nice. but only if cerise wanted to as well. he smiled lightly at what she said, nodding as he followed her to the bedroom. he wasn't too tired himself, but he was more than fine with getting himself out of his damned scrubs. upon arriving to the bedroom he walked straight to the bed and let himself fall back on it, closing his eyes for a moment. ''is there any place you want to go to?'' he then asked, keeping his eyes closed and staying on the bed, instead listening to the sounds in the room, trying to hear ceri move around instead of watching her.

she had never been to nice. she knew that he was born there and lived there for a small while. yes, cerise did well with listening to him and could very well remember many things about her husband. it would be nice to actually see the sights and the way that he lived while growing up. no pun intended. it was also nice to just go back to some place that was familiar and close to your heart. one memory that never left was the place you were born and raised in. there was always a pleasant, happy feeling that filled cerise to the brink when she would visit manhattan. hear about it, even. she could have a bit of a 'hometown pride'. or to be more specific, birth place pride. she had been raised in a well environment. her parents had taken good care of her, making sure that they could handle a child before they ever decided to actually conceive one. their timing was a little off, though. her mother was an interior designer. right after she had cerise, she seemed to be called right back to work. sometimes she would have dragged cerise along, to the dismay of her customers. but hell if she would have pawned the baby off on other people. call her greedy, but she never trusted anyone else with the infant. cerise had always been thoughtful for having a mother like that. of course, her father was basically just like that. he was responsible. she was sure that she had got her maturity and 'old soul' attitude by merely being raised by them.
reaching the bedroom was quite a stretch. the home was large, but she enjoyed that. cerise had never been a fan of tight spaces. growing up, she lived in a large home with her well off parents. if she lived in a place that looked like a model scaled version of her old home, it would be foreign to her. she was always happy to have him as a husband. someone who not only had a golden personality, but was also responsible. he was not lazy, and he was actually mature. for someone that was as sophisticated and straight laced as cerise, he was.. well, he was perfection. there was no way around that.
walking around to the bed, she grinned as she clambered on top of the blankets, only to collapse on her stomach and let out a sigh of relief. having the blankets and comfort underneath her body was an amazing feeling. she still had to get dressed in appropriate night wear. but… oh, no. she found it. that one comfortable spot that everyone found and didn't want to move from. it was so warm, and inviting. she blinked her eyes and stared at him. her focus was starting to go as her eyes slowly closed, but she still fought. no, she would have to get up and change, still. cerise was a perfectionist. she hated sleeping in clothes that were not pajamas or a gown. she slowly reached over, pulling herself that she could rest her head on him. "i don't care. anywhere, as long as you're with me…" she trailed off, listening to his breathing silently. it was a rhythmic sound. one that could easily lull her to sleep if she let it. but he still had to get up, too. then a chuckle sounded from her exhausted throat, "mmm. that was a little cheesy, wasn't it? nice would be great for a vacation. i have never been." she whispered thoughtfully. cerise tried avoiding the word 'nice' to describe it. she would have two points against her in the cheesy department. one from trying to be cute and romantic, the second from throwing out a cheesy pun. she could have been on a roll!

rémy had grown up in nice, and he'd always liked it there. there was only so much that he remembered; he was still a kid when his parents decided to move to america and so though he had some childhood memories of the house in nice and of the people he knew there, they were few in number and he remembered more from his childhood in america. either way though. the little he remembered from growing up in nice was enough to make him want to go back. he literally hadn't been back there ever since he first moved to the states; his parents never found a reason to go back there. all of his grandparents had died young, and he'd only really known his grandmother on his mother's side, but she died when he was only four years old, so really. and his parents both being only childs didn't leave for much of them to go back to once they moved away. part of him was sad about that, especially when he was a kid because america could be quite a scary place for a kid who never even spoke the language and now just had to adjust to everything. the different lifestyle, different people, everyone looking at him like he was nuts when he tried speaking french to them. thankfully though; kids were good at picking up languages and rémy had been no exception. he was good at languages in general, and he had always liked that he was fluent in two languages when he was a kid. english wasn't too hard to pick up on, especially not when you were around it all the time. nowadays the only times he spoke french would be when he would visit his parents, and even then they would mostly speak english, for ceri's sake. anyway though.
going to nice would be amazing. he wasn't even sure where he used to live back there, but he was sure his parents could help him with that, and he would get to show ceri around the places where he used to play as a kid. he remembered his favourite playground, and there had been a petting zoo for little kids in the neighbourhood as well. of course he had no way of knowing things would still be the same because hell, that was over twenty five years ago and he really couldn't say he kept track of how things in nice developed since he left. but anyway though. he was quite sure that nice still looked nice enough. pardon the pun. he wouldn't know that till he got there, but he really did hope that he would be able to pull this off. he knew how strict the hospital could be about holidays and the works; he had the hardest of times getting a few weeks of in the summer holiday when he wanted to go somewhere with cerise, but it had actually worked in the past. it was just that ... he didn't mean it in a vain way, but he knew he was needed at the hospital. he was one of the main attending doctors, and many of the interns were showing a lot of promise, but in general ... his position meant that if someone were to take over they would have big shoes to fill. and he was iffy about leaving things in the hands of others just so he could go and have some fun. but then. he did need some fun in his life. some relaxation time. everyone did.
rémy smiled as he heard more than saw (seeing as he had his eyes closed) cerise moving around, and when she moved to rest her head on him he brought one of his hands up to trail his fingers through her hair, humming softly to himself. he smiled at what she said. yeah he wasn't a big fan of clichés, but hearing her say that she wanted to be with him was always nice to hear, and he really would never grow tired of it. he chuckled lightly though, as she pointed out her own cheesyness, and he opened his eyes to look down at her, slight smile present on his face. ''then nice it is. i can show you around. or well, i probably can't coz i don't remember that much, but it's a nice city anyway'' he said, voice low and soft seeing as he really found no need to speak up. this was nice, just lying here like this. he knew he should really get out of his clothes, heck, he might even grab a quick shower, but then he might as well do that in the morning. he was in a lazy mood, so he would probably shower tomorrow anyway. but getting out of his damned scrubs though, he did want to get that over and done with because he didn't exactly feel like sleeping in them. usually he would change at the hospital; he had clean clothes there and there were showers, but today he'd been rather tired of hanging out there so he just headed straight home. and he was glad because ceri might've properly fallen asleep if he had taken any longer to come home, and he was glad he got to talk to her right now.

she was at peace whenever she was with him. right now, it felt so comfortable. she was calm, and there was nothing on her mind. it was… it was, well, quiet. apart from his humming, that was. the image of them on vacation in a far off land was some kind of far off dream. one that she was sure would never happen. but one could hope, right? she glanced up at him and then slowly reached up to stroke his face. no effort was put into the movements. every part of her was too worn down at the moment. she then trailed her fingers down and clutched the scrubs so that he would definitely not move at all. "how did i become so damn lucky, rémy?" she sighed, moving up so that she could be at eye level with him. she gently rested her lips on his forehead and let out a long breath, closing her eyes. then she finally pulled back and returned herself to her previous position. they had only been together for approximately six years, but she could remember basically everything in those living, breathing moments. he definitely had some type of a pull on her, and she was surprised that no other woman had got to him before she had a chance. she closed her eyes, trying to strengthen every other sense that she had.
"you better not move, rémy. you have become my personal pillow. so warm and comfortable." she whispered, the thoughts of her previous efforts with her 'other man' slowly being set aside. he had a way of just distracting her and making her forget. all she really wanted was this. for the cheating to end. honestly, the thought of his reaction if he were to find out crushed her. there was one thing that she had ever really frightened her. what was that? it was rémy. the thought of something happening to him. or him just leaving her. no one took cheating lightly, and she was not wanting to find out how he would take it. if she kept it up too long, however, her jig would be up and he could possibly be gone if he wasn't willing to give her a second chance. the thought of that crushed her. gently slipping her arms around his body, she began trying to fall asleep. she did not want him to get up. hopefully he wouldn't get up when she was so comfortable against him like this.
