FAVORITE FOOD?
"sounds rather disgusting, but i absolutely love french fries with ranch dressing. it's a huge guilty pleasure of mine."
ARE YOU A VIRGIN?
"that's rather personal, but if you must know the answer is no."
FAVORITE COLOR?
"i don't have one specific favorite. it generally tends to switch from light blue to light pink. mainly it depends on my mood."
HAVE YOU EVER EMBARRASSED YOURSELF?
"constantly. mainly i'm always asking dumb questions i should know the answers too. seriously, what eighteen year old girl is just watching cable television for the first time? i blame most of my embarrassing moments on my parents sheltering me so much growing up."
FAVORITE DRINK?
"oddly water. i can't stand anything overly sweet. unsweetened iced tea is in close second."
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?
"wow! well to be honest i don't really have a clue. i used to see myself already married with a good husband, my first love and all that. that was all before moving to the big city and realizing that only small minded people think that way anymore. even though apart of me still holds out for that dream to come true. but as of right now i don't have any exact plans or ideas."
FAVORITE HOLIDAY?
"hard to say. it used to be christmas, but that was back when i used to wake up to snow on the ground. ya'll know that christmas isn't christmas without snow right? i guess i'll just go with halloween. it's fun, plus getting to pretend you're something or someone else for a night is always fun."
WHAT'S ONE THING MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
"i'm extremely gullible. wait, everyone who knows me knows that. um. oh i've got one! my quote on quote mother isn't my mother at all. my real mother died while giving birth to me and my mothers best friend stepped in to help my dad take care of me. they fell in love and were married by the time i was four. i think it's kind of weird, so i don't really broadcast it to anyone. plus i have this thing about saying it out loud, saying it makes it real. in my head i like to think my mom is just off on an extended vacation, and she's happy."
DO YOU PREFER THE NIGHT OR THE DAY?
"night. i love looking at the stars."
NAME A FANTASY?
"i already told you, but if you insist i'll reiterate it again. getting married to the man of my dreams, moving back home to raise our children in the same small town environment that i was raised in. where becoming a débutante was the pinnacle of becoming a young woman. it will never happen, but then again that is why they call it a fantasy isn't it?"
lunch time, just another mediocre part of her never ending school day. thus far she'd be subjected to watching a couple of idiots attempt to bash one another to the point of disfigurement. lucky her she'd even been present for miss popularity's nipple slip in the middle of the hallway. yup, it was just another eventful day stuck in school. days like this were when she was most thankful for her pen pal dmitri. he'd always been there to listen to her complaints and glib telling of tales and experiences over the years. so far they'd continued writing one another steadily ever since she was just a wide eyed fourth grade student. while most others quickly lost touch with their pen pals once the assignment for class was finished, elizabeth kept up a steady regimen of writing her's every week like clock work. opening up and talking to him was always easy, almost effortless really. truthfully dmitri was her best friend, her only real friend in the actual sense. especially since liz had built up such a horrid habit of building up walls around herself. it was just always much easier to pretend to like, well tolerate everyone. dmitri was the only person in her world that knew exactly what she thought about everything. it was nice, comfortable and deep down liz was pretty sure she wouldn't be able to function without the comfort of having him to vent to after a day like today.
lately her thought's seemed to be going back to dmitri more often than normal. the new exchange student sharing his name had nothing to do with that of course. wait, no that isn't right is it? actually it had everything to do with why her mind kept going back to her trusted friend. upon first meeting dmitri liz had held out a bit of hope that just maybe he was her pen pal come to rescue her from her currently bland and routine life. her bad luck had struck again when he had explained that dmitri was an extremely popular boys name in russia and that he was in fact not her pen pal and friend. regardless he proved to be a pretty interesting person. see she'd been assigned to help him find his way around and answer any questions that he might have about the school.speaking of she was supposed to be meeting him for lunch, not standing around in the hallway staring into her locker like she'd lost her mind as she was currently doing. with a loud slam liz shut the locker door, jiggling the handle to make sure it was closed before walking quickly away. at least her locker wasn't to far away from the lunch room, she could be there in under a minute flat. this time being no different she rounded the corner and stopped just inside of the cafeteria. dmitri had to be in here somewhere, but so where about three hundred other students.
walking in just a bit more a few people smiled, some waved and a few hi liz's flew around. as usual she played along, responding in all of the politically correct ways. even if with half of them she wished she could just give them the finger and be done with them completely. scanning the room again she finally managed to spot him, sitting completely alone looking rather forlorn. moving through the crowds of students standing, sitting and socializing haphazardly around the room liz quickly made her way over to where he was sitting and sat down next to him. dumping the contents of her own lunch on the table in front of her she spoke in a sarcastic tone. "what do we have for lucky contestant liz to day. first up we have string cheese, next we have your standard peanut butter and jelly sandwich, yum my favorite." lie, they hadn't been her favorite since she was in the sixth grade. the thought of breaking it to her mom that the every other day pb & j had become nauseating was not something she wanted to deal with. so instead she ate them. "..oh and look an apple. yay, how nutritiously boring of a meal i have here." turning to dmitri she spoke, "what about you? anything good today?" liz knew that dmitri was pretty put off by american food, to him obviously their customs and food were a bit strange. it was understandable, just like some of the customs in his country were to her.
