If he had to complain, he would but for some reason, he didn’t see the need to. When Courtney made him promise that he would come and give her company at a music festival that he wasn’t even interested on, he didn’t even protest. Instead, he told her he would come and she had nothing to worry about. Of course, the typical Cade, he would always arrive late to a meeting, the only reason why most girls got annoyed at their first date with him. For sure, he didn’t use the term fashionably late when he was asked why, because it was true. He didn’t spend hours just to make himself look perfect, showering himself with cologne and all because as far as he was concerned, he was not a girl. Not even a guy who was about to go for a date. This was a meeting with a best friend of his who would certainly question him why he was wearing too much denim but would get over it minutes later.
Having Courtney as a best friend was great but all at the same time difficult. She was gorgeous and just because of that little fact; it was giving him a hard time to be around her. She was the only beautiful girl in college that he was dying to date but would never do so. He blamed the relationship they were having, best friends. What the fuck was that all about? He couldn’t get over the thought of how he was best friends with Courtney and not in a relationship above than friendship. With a snap, it seemed that the bubble he was in moments ago, popped and the one to blame of how the bubble even existed was the alcohol he had last night. He scanned the room and found out that it was as if a tornado had hit the place. He groaned and got himself out of bed, starting to tidy the place up a bit. The last thing he needed was to have Courtney up there and see the mess and have her nag him all day long.
Satisfied, at the least, he headed for the bathroom seeing that it was already 5 minutes late from the time he promised to be at the Olympic Park. Sure, anyone would get pissed for him to arrive late to a meeting that he promised to attend. But this was Courtney; she had been with him for so long now and probably had gone tired from complaining at his lateness. It didn’t even take him 30 minutes to finish; he put on a white shirt, his brown jacket and the scarf that was known to be his signature. Finally set up, he headed for the door and out the campus.
30 minutes late, that wasn’t so bad. Of course, for an ass like him it wasn’t. But he was sure Court would understand. From a far distance, he spotted her sitting with some guy he wasn’t familiar with. Just by looking at the expression she had on, he smiled and shook his head. They had been friends for so long and the only person who knew her the best was probably him. The look she had on was the exact sign that she was bored. Probably the only way for her to get out of the boredom was if he’d come up to her and tell the guy to leave. But he wasn’t going to miss the fun, not that soon. He would have to watch her getting herself bored to death just by talking with some stranger who he assumed must have got caught in her flirt zone.
Keeping himself company, he walked up to some crowd that he didn’t even know and started some random conversations. He was good at socializing so there was no problem for him to get along with a bunch of strangers. He was just like Court, the only difference was, he was good at getting out of boring situation unlike her who was now still in the middle of it. Still watching her sitting there with the guy, he felt sorry for her. Sure, he was cruel for letting her sit there, thinking where the hell is he at. The beep at his cell surprised him a bit and he excused himself to read the message from Court. A smile fell upon his lips before he slid the phone back into his pocket, walking over to her.
“Really, buddy. You’re sitting on my spot. And talking to my girlfriend? You need to move man.” As he said that, the guy gave him an odd look before he got up and walked away. Cade watched the guy as he left before settling himself next to Courtney. Taking the glass from her hand and taking a sip from it, he settled it down and grinned at her. “Vodka, sweetheart? Whatever am I going to do with you…” he teased before taking another sip.
