Night...preferably a rainy night
NAME A FANTASY?
A fantasy...? I suppose it would be based off this dream I have. I'm walking along the beach with a girl holding her hand and it's raining lightly. I can tell by the way the sky looks that its a little past midnight. I turn to look at the girl I'm with and as I lean down to kiss her I remove her hat...The hat had been covering her face, so I have no idea what she looks like..all I know is that I feel so happy and alive walking with her. Alas, when I pull off the hat, I always wake up. It would be great to have that play out with out having to wake up.
Ryder awoke from the same old dream he’d been having since he was sixteen. Why couldn’t he ever stay asleep long enough to find out who the girl was? She felt so warm against his skin, so real. He shook his head and looked over to the left side of his bed. A woman with bleach blond hair lay there sleeping peacefully. He groaned slightly and got out of the bed. He made his way over to his bathroom and shut the door. He splashed his face with cool water and ran his fingers through his hair. Why did he have to go out and find a woman to sleep with every weekend? Once again he shook his head. That was becoming his habit lately; shaking his head when he did something he knew he shouldn’t.
He turned on the shower and got in letting the hot water pound down his back. He took his time washing his body, trying to get every bit of the smoky smell from last night’s club out of his skin. When he was pleased with his efforts, Ryder turned off the shower and dried off. He wrapped the towel around his waist and went back into the bedroom. The woman had moved herself to the center of the bed and was sprawled out on her back like a starfish. She was beautiful in many ways, but she didn’t give him any emotion but guilt. Guilt that after she left he would never call her, never even ask to see her again. He reached into his dresser and pulled out a pair of simple black silk boxers before walking over to his closet and slipping into a pair of black pants. He pulled a silk red button-up long-sleeved shirt out of there too and returned to his dresser grabbing a pair of black socks and black silk tie. Ryder had a thing for silk…and Egyptian cotton, but that was for a totally different reason.
“Ryder?”
Ryder turned around and smiled at the woman. He laid the socks and tie on the dresser and began putting on the shirt. “Yes?” he said as he buttoned the shirt half way up his chest. He put the tie on and began working on it awaiting a remark from her. She was clutching the covers up to her neck and had a pondering look on her face. He ruffled his hair a little bit and grabbed the socks. He walked over to the king size canopy bed with the simple black on black theme. He sat down on the edge and put on his socks.
“Do you know where my car is?” the woman asked not moving an inch. Ryder had to stifle a laugh. The woman didn’t remember a thing. He shook his head slightly and turned to look at her. Her blonde hair was down to her shoulders, straight as a board. She had a smudge of mascara right below her left eye. She was one of those people who added a bunch to herself because she was insecure about her natural beauty. Ryder didn’t understand that about women.
“Yeah, I had my friend at the club drive it here last night because you rode with me. He drove behind us in yours because he had to come back here anyway to pick up his truck. It’s in my garage.” Ryder said standing up. He pressed a button on the wall and spoke into a little box, “ Lila, can you bring a breakfast platter up here to my friend. She’ll be leaving soon.” Ryder waited for the Hispanic voice to return a yes before slipping on his shoes. “I’d love to stay and chat…okay I won’t lie to you. I’m leaving for work. When I get back home, you won’t be here. There will be nothing here to remind me that I ever slept with you except the memory of last night. I don’t want anything serious, so let’s leave it at that. Have a nice life Miss,” and Ryder walked out of his bedroom door not even bothering to wait for a response.
