miami. the great city. the great hot city. leaning forward in his driving seat, coen sighed as he pulled the shirt from his back, the perspiration from the hot day making it stick continuously. he thought off all the great things that came with this city. the beach, the chicks, the happenings, and the weather. well, the weather most of the time anyways. it was days like this that made the boy wish he had taken up that scholarship in the colder parts of the country. but then, as he pulled up in the carpark that had separately been roped off for the event that hit miami once a year; or more, coen never really took the time to 'document' the dates of the happenings in this town'; coen glanced around at the people, and he knew that the 90 degree day was worth it. he had come, indirectly, from beach training, and this was explaining why the beach was so scarce of people. it explained why there wasnt groups of girls watching his soccer team train shirtless, like there always was, and also where all the volleyballers were. smiling as he got out of his car, pocketing his wallet, iphone and keys, coen wandered through the group of people who were standing around the entrance, either waiting for other people to come, or whatever. he didnt know, he didnt care.
waving towards someone that he knew, coen continued down the long line of 'attractions' that had come to town for the special day. he had an effortless cool about him; although he could be awkward at times, some people finding this to be quite amusing. wearing a pair of havaianas, billabong board shorts and a white hurley t-shirt, coen strutted his stuff down the middle of the people, and grabbed the hat off a familiar face. "hey dude." he said with a smile, placing the cap mockingly upon his own head, pulling a face that somewhat resembled his mates cocky grin. all of his friends were like this, and coen wasnt the exception; except when around girls. he wasnt confident around girls, until they were introduced and he could flirt as much as he wanted. pushing his hands into his pockets, rocking back on his heels, coen felt the cap get pulled off his head. "you're a faggot." his friend said back, though this meant nothing to coen. "when did you get here? i saw erin before, you still going strong?" coen laughed to the boy, punching him in the arm mockingly. unbeknown to him, his friend and erin were no longer going out, and coen had just done what he always did. he put his fat foot in his fat mouth. "dude. she broke up with me. who was she with?'
thinking, aw shit, coen smiled awkwardly at his mate. thats why she wasnt here with him. thats why she was with another guy. oops, coen had done the same thing that he always did, and he was killing him for initiating the conversation. " just girls. she was just with her friends. you know, laura, jasmin, that bunch." coen tried to fix the situation, unsuccessfully. smiling, his friend pushed coen jokingly, uttering the words "you tool, dont try and make me feel better." but coen lost his footing, and fell back more than he should have, and in a packed crowd, well, it was needless to say what the consequences were. turning around, to see the person that he bumped into, coen was disappointed to see that it was a girl; although INCREDIBLY pretty, she was a girl, and everyone knew that coen wasnt good with that sort. "uhm, oh, um. i'm sor-, uh, sorry."

It was one of those early afternoons where the sun beat down on the tan skins of the residents of Miami. A time of the year where people actually took the time for leisure and play, a time where people went out to the beach just for the hell of it. Today, however, there was a very specific reason for the mass gathering of people around the sandy shores: today was the carnival, one of the most people-filled, exciting areas to be this time of year in Miami.
Lily's brother, Hayden, had driven up north for the day with one of his good friends to go shopping and hang out or what not, leaving Lily alone for the day. She figured it was a nice enough day outside to get out of the house a bit. Not that she necessarily had a huge longing to socialize, rather that she had the need to breathe that fresh cool, misty ocean air, and to just enjoy the atmosphere of the city. It came as no suprise that the first place her mind naturally went to was the carnival.
After the typical 'getting-ready' routine was finished such as taking a shower and doing her hair, Lily had finally decided on the simple outfit of her bikini top, a tank top to cover that, and high waisted shorts. She looked herself over in the mirror quickly once, and decided that it was good enough. Pulling her vivid red locks into a bun on the top of her head, she covered her face with wide sunglasses, and grabbed her things, heading out the door of her small apartment.
After finding her vintage bike on the mile-long bike rack her apartment complex had recently invested in, she unlocked it, throwing the lock in the bag she had over her shoulder. She naturally climbed on and began pedaling towards the hubub of the city; the carnival, where she had been longing to go all morning.
She arrived, and strapped up her bike like she usually would, and began walking along the commonly-walked paths. As she was walking, a large ride caught her eye, and she planted her feet on the side of the path, looking up and smiling at all of the children laughing and screaming. When the thoughts of what could possibly go wrong to make that ride dangerous and deadly passed through Lily's mind, she was scared half-to-death by a body being flung in her direction. She turned around, and naturally stuck her arms out, finding herself in almost an embrace with , what Lily now knew was, the man's body. Lily laughed softly at this, and brushed herself off after helping the kid stand on his own two feet again. " It's okay..." she started, biting her lip and looking up at the boys face. As soon as she realised that she was staring, it hit her that he was one of the most gorgeous boys she'd seen around in a long ass time. Lily forced herself to tear away her vision, in fear of being rude, and then realised she hadn't talked in a while. The thoughts rushing through her head made her extreamely nervous, but she felt reassured when the sun went behind a cloud and she could stop squinting for a minute. She made eye contact again, and grinned once more. "I'm suprised I wasn't the one falling into you." she said, laughing softly.
Concious thoughts ran through her head. Wasn't this the time for introductions? Lily realised that it was just some boy, and decided that she shouldn't stress about being 'cool' or not around him. "Lily. Or lils. Whatever." she said, sticking out her fragile pale hand for a swift proper handshake. What the hell, if he thought she was cute, he'd stick around. If he didn't, she hadn't lost a thing.
dear coen, this is finished, sorry it's extreamely long, i had lots of muse... i'm excited for these two. : )

it wasn’t that he was terrible at socialising with girls, its just that he was scared of them judging him. okay, so of course there was a reason towards this, because lets face it, everyone had their sad little pathetic story that made everyone fall in love with them, and that made them who they are today. coen just wanted to forget about the experiences that had made him the cynical, shy, and downright contradictory person that he had become. coens personality, or basically two personalities, didn’t really suit each other. around boys he was just like any other jock; loud, confident, somewhat rude and uninhibited. but as soon as there was a girl around, she was the one that would have to break the ice. he made his transition to the awkward, shy, stuttering fool that he was right now. coen could hear his friends in the background, stifling their laughs the occasional word uttered from their mouth. he was stupid to think that they would have his back on this one, though he was trying his hardest to act normal, they saw this as being funny. coen couldn’t really judge them; if he were in their boat, he would be pissing himself laughing right about now.
coen smiled awkwardly at the girl, one hand pushed into his pocket and the other scratching the back of his neck shyly. great, so he had already undermined his masculinity by falling into the girls arms. she had to save him, that was messed up, not that coen was at all undermining the great female population. he gave an awkward giggle as he noticed the girl was staring at him, though it gave him time to study her features. she was pretty, she was cute, and she gave him this weird feeling in his stomach. was that what teenage girls call butterflies? if it was, then he wasn’t fond of them. bugs in his tummy, metaphor or no metaphor, was not something that coen was going to enjoy. coen was just trying to comprehend what had happened so far; he had been pushed, she had saved him, she hadn’t yelled at him like most of the girls that coen had come across in Miami would have. if it wasn’t the situation that was killing coen, it was the sounds of his friends amusement, and the push closer to the girl, to accept her offering her hand. ”well, your definitely stronger than you look, to catch my weight, haha. not that you look weak, its just that, you know, um.” coen forced out of his mouth, running his hand through his hair, frustrated with himself for making himself look like a fool for the second time this day. “i’m coen.” he said, using his adorable smile to try and win the girl over, because his words were so obviously failing. touching his hand to the girls own, coen smiled once more, before dropping his hand to his side, trying not to make the situation any more awkward.

Lily couldn't help but the smile, her cheeks squinting up in that wrinkled, dimpled, baby-like smile she'd always had whenever something incredible was going on. Not that this was classified as incredible yet, more like it had the potential to be incredible. Okay, so Lily couldn't help but hope that Coen, this new boy, would stick around for at least another hour.
Lily shook her head and laughed at the boy's talking. "I understood what you meant." Lily said in the most relaxing voice she could, almost cutting him off. Her smile grew from less cheesy to more welcoming and inviting when suddenly she realized exactly what was going on behind this handsome, falling-over-her man.
His friends were a load of jocks. Great. This almost caused Lily to turn away completely, but she looked back at the shy, innocent boy and figured that everyone deserved at least a chance. Suddenly, an idea sparked in her mind. Lily would have never been classified as daring, but for some reason, this kid made her want to go out on a limb.
Lily leaned closer to Coen and smiled a bit up at him, occasionally glancing to see if his jock friends saw what was going on. Once Lily was assured that they did, she put her hand over Coen's leaned over to whisper in his ear. "I'm not trying to make a move." Lily assured him, making eye contact with the boy and hoping he wasn't dying inside. "If you can find a way to ditch your friends, meet me at the ferris wheel in ten minutes." Lily nodded, and squeezed his hand, and with that she'd already flashed an innocent smile over towards his jock friends and turned on her heels to leave.
"Please." Lily finished to herself as she continued in the direction of the ferris wheel, hoping to god she would talk to the boy again.
dear coen, this is finished, sorry it's extreamely bleh, i didn't know what to have her do... i'm hoping this ain't incredibly awkward.

was coen making a fool of himself? yep. but hey, he was used to it. even through all the awkwardness that coen just so managed to put into the situation, he was totally aware of his vice. he wasn’t like fat people who wore short skirts, or bitches that well, bitched. he knew what he was doing, he just couldn’t stop it. he was trying his very hardest to act normal, for this girl was pretty, and he didn’t know whether or not she would stick out through all this bullshit. not many girls in Miami would; coen wasn’t thought of as being top of the food chain, if you know what i mean. there was a hierarchy in this town, and you had to be perfect to be at least considered by some of the girls in this town. something coen was far from.
as his friends joked behind him, coen studied the girls everything; her features, her figure, the expression on her face as she realized something. probably that his friends were a bunch of jocks, and that meant that coen was probably a similar offender; only that he wasn’t. he hoped that the girl would give him a chance, even after he pushed into her, and then acted like an idiot. nodding simply when the girl told him she wasn’t making a move, this immediately intrigued coen. what was she doing? she got close enough that HE could have made a move on her. ” i’ll make a away,” the boy laughed back, in a whisper, a broad smile across his young features. as the girl turned and walked, coen couldn’t believe his luck. he almost had to thank his friends for this; if it wasn’t for them, coen never would have gotten to talk to this girl.
turning around to face his friends, coen laughed. ”you guys are dickheads. just for that, im ditching you.” he said, but was pulled back by his friends. he had successfully made the transition from awkward / shy to loud / jock-ish again, and he wasn’t proud of it. you going to hang with the pretty lady? she was fiiiiiiine. one of his friends chimed in, who was then on the receiving end of a pretty good deathstare from coen. “shut up.” he said, changing his expression to somewhat happy, before pointing over to a crowd of girls, clad only in bikinis. as all of his friends turned to admire, coen ducked off, barely keeping himself from running straight to the ferris wheel. picking up a coke as he rushed past a vendor, coen pushed the money into his hands and gave a grateful smile. as he reached his destination, coen spotted the girl, and smiled as he made his way towards her. Lily. the boy thought, he liked the name.

Okay, so that went really well. Like, super well. Lily was proud of herself for being so damn brave. She really hadn't gone out on a limb like that, well, ever. It was on rare occasion she'd have even made a move to talk to a guy, yet alone as him to meet her somewhere where they could talk MORE. Although Lily was put off by the jocks of friends this new figure had, she was intrigued and definately felt the desire to learn much much more. As she walked towards the ferris wheel she prayed to God she wouldn't get ditched by just another jock. No matter who you were, that always felt like a swift kick to the groin.
Before making it to the ferris wheel, she caught a glimpse of what looked to be Coen. She couldn't help but smile, and started walking a bit faster, hoping to get there sooner than he. She walked at an upbeat pace, and soon arrived at the ferris wheel, walking over to stand in line and buy her ticket. Usually she was afraid of heights too, her being the shy awkward turtle she was, but for some reason today, the sun was out, and Lily was feeling just a bit more daring than her usual self.
That smile had burned an image in her head, and she just couldn't wait to see it again. Coen. Coen what exactly? She made it on her list of things to do to find out exactly who this boy was and why he'd burrowed so deep into Lily's brain in such a short amount of time. Lily handed the cashier three dollars and was soon met by the boy she'd hoped she'd see again. She gave an awkward wiggle of her fingers in his general direction and smiled.
dear coen, this is finished, two words: shit tacos, i'm hoping you don't hate me for this crappy post.

as coen counted his lucky stars, finally coming to meet the girl after what seemed a long ten minutes, coen smiled down at his company. there wasn’t much coen didn’t like about this girl; he liked her name, he liked the way it rolled off his tongue, he liked her voice, he liked her looks, he liked her personality, or the small portion that he had seen of it so far. she seemed to be his kind of guy, believe it or not, he was better around her than he was around any other girl. this was weird, because most of the girls that coen talked to, he wasn’t nearly as attracted or intrigued by as this one. there was something about her, and whether it killed him or not, coen was going to find out exactly what that was.
of course she chose the ferris wheel. one of coens favourite rides, as he wasn’t a fan of spinny or upside down rides at all. he was barely okay with heights. of course she had picked this one, for everything else today seemed to be working out perfectly, and this was not an exception. coen was glad of this, because they could talk in the ferris wheel, and he could find out those things that he was so dying to hear. her last name, what she did, whether she had lived in Miami her whole life. the boys stomach tumbled with the questions he was waiting to ask.
“we’ll i got away alright, we just have to, um stay away now. if i know them, they are gonna, like, try to give me, um, hell.” the boy said to the girl with an awkward chuckle, again scratching the back of his neck shyly. as he bought his ticket for the ferris wheel, the pairs turn showed up, and he stood by the door of the carriage, smiling at the girl, and waiting most gentleman-like to help her into the carriage. coen offered his arm for the girl to help her, just because he felt that it was the right thing to do.

Lily smiled as she heard his voice once more, and looked up high into his eyes. He was loads taller than her, which wasn't something new for her, standing at a mere five foot three inches. "We'll stay away from them." Lily said assuringly, nodding softly at the awkward boy in front of her. For the first time in a long time, she hadn't felt like the awkward one in the conversation for a change, for his nervous habits made her feel a bit less under the spotlight.
Lily laced her hand around his arm gratefully, and managed to wiggle her tiny body into the seat of the ferris wheel. She felt little flutters in her stomach and tried shaking them off, avoiding feeling like a high school princess as much as possible. It was a beautiful day, couldn't have been a more perfect day to ride such a slow, relaxing thing. Lily watched as he got in and raised one half of her mouth in delight. How had they gotten here? What made this so different? What a strange and sudden thing... why had it felt like they'd known each other for longer. Lily found herself staring at him, and then outside into the scenery, as they waited for a while in the car, not moving in the least bit. "Let's try this again, without the interuption?" Lily asked, raising her eyebrow. "Lily. Lily Everett."
A few moments had passed before Lily decided to speak again. "Tell me about yourself." Lily said suddenly and curiously, raising one eyebrow and looking over towards the boy. She wondered if she should be more specific or just let him ramble. Deciding on the rambling option, Lily crossed her legs, and waited for an answer from the intriguing boy. Nervously twiddling her thumbs, the shock of what she was doing had kicked in and she turned a flush colour, tearing her eyes away from the boy. Sometimes she'd wished she wasn't so damn bashful. Other days, she was thankful to avoid confrontation. Today, Lily had impressed herself more than she had in a long time, and she wasn't about to give up on that now. She'd scootched a little away from the wall, the fear of heights now kicking in as they slowly creeped to the side of the wheel. She waited patiently for his answer.

that was another thing that coen found adorable. the height difference, coen standing at 5”11, and the girl, well, much shorter than that. usually when coen was taller than people, it made him feel even more awkward, but not on this occasion; he liked it. shaking his head, almost like he was trying to shake himself up, and so that he would be less awkward, and more fun to talk to. he didn’t want the girl to get bored of him; the stuttering could have been cute at times, but when trying to get through a conversation, coen could only imagine how awkward it would’ve been for the other party. plus, it made him feel bad about himself, which then brought on more stuttering, and it was a cycle that needed to be broken.
watching her as she took her arm, coen couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. she was cute as she wiggled into position on the seat, and it took coen a moment to realize that he had only just met this girl. it just seemed like they had a past; coen and lily just worked, they ‘gelled’ together, and well, so far, things were going really well. as the girl asked more about him, for him to tell her his life story, coen shrugged his shoulders and looked at the girl.
“well, there’s not much to know, haha. i study at the college, im there on scholarship for playing, um, soccer, yeah. ive lived in Miami all my life, i cant imagine not being here.” the boy said to the girl, kicking himself for the one mistake that he had made in the sentence, pushing the word ‘um’ as he told her of his soccer. of all things, his sport was what he was most confident in, but that didn’t come across in the way that he had just spoken it. he noticed as the girl shifted away from the wall, something that puzzled coen. “are you okay? you’re not scared of heights are you?”

Lily listened, quite intently, as the boy spoke of his very simple, at-home kind of life. He went to the university? This actually shocked Lily, and she wrinkled up her nose, wondering where he'd been all her life. As if she was about to ask, he'd answered: soccer. We did have a jock on our hands. Lily was still interested though, despite the fact that maybe his type wasn't typically the kind she'd go for.
Miami all of his life, huh? What a little cute life he had. It made Lily's seem far too adventurous and crazy, especially for her personality. "I go to school there too." Lily said nodding her head very softly towards him. "No scholarship though." she had started, teasing him a bit. "I'm studying to be a teacher. For special education children." There. She'd said it. Her pride and joy. If he hadn't run away after that, Lily really could have asked this kid on a second and most likely third date already.
She listened as he asked her if she was afraid of heights. Right on the money. Lily nodded. "I'm afraid of a lot of things..." She started, trying to keep her mind off of the fact that she was up in the air hundreds of feet.
After a few moments of small talk, Lily had eventually wiggled her body so she was turned towards him. "I'm actually not from around here." she said, matter-of-factly. "Dunno if you could tell, but I'm from Dublin." she nodded a bit, wondering if this would intrigue him or turn him away. It seemed that everything Lily said, she wondered what he would think. And she suddenly began wondering why it was so important what he thought. This boy was confusing the hell out of her simple, down-at-home brain, and he wasn't even doing anything at all. Lily was so confused, she could have screamed. Screamed with delight. She had been so excited her heart was pounding and she couldn't wait to hear him talk more.

in all of his life, coen had never thought that his accomplishments were cute. but as he listened to the girl tell her life story, coen couldn’t help but feel somewhat inadequate. he had dreams, but they were just that, FUTURE goals, nothing for the present, and nothing for the future. the girl seemed like she had experienced and accomplished so much, the girls life was so... eventful. she went to school, learning to be a teacher nonetheless. she was from Dublin. Dublin. there was nothing ordinary about that. he admired the girl for wanting to help people. it didn’t scare him off, but made him want to get to know the girl all the more, for he loved people that were caring, and compassionate; the group of people he usually got to hang around with were... well, not that. “thats... amazing.” he said with a smile, making eye contact with her so she knew that he meant it.
but that brought coen to a predicament. what would a girl like her, see in a guy like him? he wasn’t particularly smart, he wasn’t really deep, and he didn’t have anything that he thought would interest her. he was a jock, and he wondered if secretly she had labelled him that. maybe it was too good to be true, maybe when she found out that there wasn’t that much more to him she would get disappointed. he didn’t know, and right now, it was all that coen cared about. that and making sure he caught every word uttered from the girls mouth; if this wasn’t going to last, he was going to savour the moment.
coen touched his hand to the girls shoulder caringly, as the girl spoke that she was afraid of heights, and many other things. was she scared of him? shaking his head, coen replied to the girl. “Dublin? what made you move out here? are you here alone?” coen worried that he may have scared her with his questions.

As they reached the top of the ferris wheel, Lily dared to look out onto the horizon. She saw thousands of tiny ant people swarmed around various rides, and this made her a bit nervous. She returned her focus to the boy in front of her, happy he didn't look like an ant also. She listened as he said her career choice was amazing. Lily smiled a lot this time. "They're my everything. I love them so much." she said, refering to her special needs students that she co-taught at one of the local elementary schools.
Then, Lily felt a warm, large hand on her shoulder. She looked down, and sure enough, there his palm was, right on her body. She flushed beat red and nervously gnawed at her lip, going back into her awkward phase once more, the physical contact making her nervous. Shivers went through her veins as if she were attached to an electrical current coming straight from his hand. She smiled over at him though, at least a half-attempted smile.
Finally, words saved our awkward turtle girl. A question that she could actually answer without being nervous. Thank god. "We moved here when my brother turned eighteen. Just me and him. It was that, or stay at home alone with my parents. My brothers my whole life, and they had a good school out here for what I wanna do." Lily said, shrugging her shoulders as if it were nothing. Of course, she was leaving out the sob story of her life. She'd just met the man. She need not destroy what little hope she had of actually holding a decent conversation that would turn into something, possibily, in the future.
Lily pulled her legs up into the bench and sat indian style, looking out at the scenery once more. They were 3/4 of the way around, something that made Lily very nervous. "So how the hell are we going to keep your jock-strap buddies away?" Lily asked softly, with a devious smile on her face.

coen had always had heroes. people that he admired because of something they had done, something they had said, or something that were aiming for. so far, lily had coens admiration from many things; having the guts to give him a chance, thats something shes done, her life story, and coens going to count that as something shes said, and her career, which was something she was aiming for, and it was such a great thing to be doing. he wished that he had the courage to do what she had done, but coen wasn’t like that.
pulling his hand off the girl, scared that he would frighten her off, that she didn’t like physical contact, even though she had touched his arm, and held his hand before. everything he did he thought about, scared that he was going to do something wrong. “you don’t miss your parents?” he asked, probably not the best question for the situation they were in. “i’m an only child. i would love to have a brother... or a sister.” the boy added thoughtfully. it was weird how he was being so honest with the girl, while still holding so much of his self back.
coen watched as the girl again shifted positions. he liked how she was comfortable enough to be able to do that. coen was just sitting normally, facing almost towards the girl, his foot resting on the seat opposite him. he wondered whether lily was getting freaked out by the heights, and went to put an arm out again, before retracting that offer; he was already worried that he’d scared her off when he did that before. “they aren’t as bad as you think.” the boy laughed, though he knew this was a lie. “actually they’re worse. my guess is that they’d stay clear of all the competition things. whattya say, i might win you a toy?” the boy winked at the girl, glad that he got through three whole sentences without using ‘uhm’ or ‘like’ as a fall back.

Lily felt a shiver run through her spine when he asked about her parents. She didn't like talking about it, with really anyone. Even with her brother, they steered clear of all discussions involving Dad, and well, especially Mum. Lily's mum had been involved a very severe car crash on her way to work one thursday morning when Lily was about fourteen. Lily shook the memories. Her mother wasn't dead, but she might as well have been: frozen in a vegatative state for teh remander of her life was the worst thing that could have possibly happened. Lily tried not to think of the way her father changed after this occured. The way he'd spend every possible moment, staring at her lifeless yet breathing body. The thoughts were so overwhelming, Lily almost wanted to jump off the ferris wheel right then and there. "Yeah. I miss them a lot." she said, nodding her head very slowly. It was true. She had missed the both of them dearly. Rather, who they used to be.
Having a sibling was a great thing though, and thinking of Hayden made her cheer up exponentially. "I love him, he's my world." Lily said, realizing she couldn't have gotten more cheesy. She decided maybe it was best to stop talking about deep personal things for a while, in order to prevent scaring him off, or rather, him hurting her; something Lily had always been afraid of. I couldn't imagine not having someone to grow up with. Did you just, what, play with yourself?" Lily said, more rambling than anything. Although as soon as the words escaped her mouth, she regreted them, and couldn't help but turning as red as the ferris wheel was itself. "Oh, god, I didn't mean it that way!" Lily assured him, covering her mouth, her eyes squinting from the laughter that erupted from her frail little body. Hayden always teased her about her laugh, saying it was mouse-like, and oh did Coen get a dose of it. After a few moments of sheer silliness, Lilys laughter faded to a smile and she shook her head, "I'm sorryyy." she said, looking at the boy.
Lily then listened to his plans, and decided it might be really fun. Even if he didn't win her a toy. She smiled and nodded her head. Figuring he knew his own friends better than she'd prejudged them out to be, she decided this whole game thing would be a great idea. "I refuse to take home a big-eyed creature though..." Lily started, widening her eyes. She didn't know why, but after the slip-up she had in her wording, she felt so silly and even, yes, a tad bit crazy. "They scare the living piss out of me."
dear coen, this is finished, wewt WEWT, i'm tired, rawrr.

and there was the 'foot in the mouth' thing. coen had only met this girl, and yet he was consistently prying into her life, asking for things that most people wouldnt find out until the fifth, or sixth date. and here coen was, assuming that there was going to be future dates with this girl, and implying that he was already on one with lily. god, he felt sorry for her. the amount of guys that were at this carnival, and she got stuck in the ferris wheel with perhaps the most annoying, frustratingly awkward guy, and there was nothing she could do about it. coen knew if most girls were caught in the same place as she was, they would have contemplated jumping. well, coen knew HE would anyways. as he shifted nervously, sitting one foot on the seat, and wrapping his muscular arms around it, coen nodded at what the girl said. he almost had to cover his mouth from saying anything else, he figured the girl would try and change the subject, for it was something that she obviously didnt want to talk about.
laughing as the girl said what she said, and then tried desperately to correct herself, coen was glad the the attention was off him. he wasnt so awkward when they werent were just talking, it was spaces in the conversation before and after coen said something stupid. "haha, i know what you meant. no, i didnt play with myself," the boy said, winking to the girl. "our butl- babysitter was always around," deciding not to bring that into the conversation, in order to be able to relate to the girl more. not that she was poor or anything, it really didnt have anything to do with her. it was just that people didnt reallly like it when coen talked about his circumstances. "he's the one who first taught me how to play football." coen added sentimentally, flashing a girl a grin.
"okay, anything but 'big eyed creatures'. i dont blame you, i never really liked them either." looking out over the side, like the girl had done many a-times, coen smiled as their carriage neared the bottom, and wondered whether this would be the turn where they had to get out, and what they would do next. well, whether the girl still wanted to hang with him, really.
