I love sushi from a lot of different places. I really like how it tastes different if you're in different places. Sushi in California is completely different from sushi in London, and it's all wrong after you've had Japanese sushi.

I haven't been a virgin in more years than I can remember.

I really like the whole rainbow and prefer to incorporate several colors into my world, but I guess that I'm partial to royal purple.
HAVE YOU EVER EMBARRASSED YOURSELF?
Never.
Of course I have. I traveled quite a bit upon graduating high school, and when I was in Asia, I completely butchered their customs. If you wear short shorts in Malaysia, you get odd looks. Couple that with decidedly Western ideas of sexuality, and you have the perfect combination for disaster. And disaster there was.
FAVORITE DRINK?
I really like margaritas. They taste like home to me.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?
I honestly can't answer this. If you had asked me two weeks ago, when I was still in Vancouver, I would have said being a photographer in British Columbia. But now that I'm no longer in Vancouver, who can say? I guess it depends on what happens. I'd like to be with the person I love, whether in a permanent way or in a dating relationship, and I would like my life to be filled with laughter and adventure. I hope that I haven't "settled down" by then, or ever.
FAVORITE HOLIDAY?
Being in Canada and celebrating Thanksgiving in the wrong month has taught me to appreciate American Thanksgiving. I would kill for some turkey.
WHAT'S ONE THING MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I feel like I don't belong in any ethnic group. I'm Russian and African American, but I don't look as if I belong in either group, and I get made fun of by both. Racism is still alive and well.
I'm also semi-fluent in French, Russian, and Spanish after spending two years traveling around Europe and Northern Africa.
DO YOU PREFER THE NIGHT OR THE DAY?
Surprisingly, the day. Photographs turn out better with natural light.
