To say Sebastian looked lost would be the understatement of the century. Men and shopping don't mix well. Keys and shopping was a fxcking disaster waiting to happen. Oh he'd earned plenty of cruel glances from shop floor assistants who he'd annoyed by walking into displays or browsing at the windows for too long, or peeking into the ladies changing rooms. Was it really such a crime!
The mall was big and built like a maze. and this was supposedly meant to be a quiet day, well still too many people for his liking. No, he wasn't antisocial. He usually loved crowds, especially when going clubbing. But this kind of stifled environment brought out his grumpy side. A frown was fixed onto his forehead. He stopped to look at another window. Mannekins dressed in lacey tops and flared miniskirts, it looked quite ridiculous really, but this was fashion. He cocked his head slightly to one side in the manner of someone trying to work out a puzzling arithmetic problem. It was all so darn confusing, maybe he should just stick to flowers, or a card, or a packet of cigarrettes.
You see, he was putting himself through this suffering because for a rare moment in his life he was trying to do something nice. He hadn't been the best of brothers, far from it. On more than one occasion he'd been the one that had had to be rescued from trouble. But still Harper had stuck around for him more or less. And here he was, enrolled at a college a few blocks away from where she'd moved to escape him for a while. An honest mistake really...but she might be slightly annoyed. So he was here to buy a housewarming present, a gift of truce, a peace offering of sorts. Well he would be if he could get his head round what to get her. What would be acceptable, what did she really like? Oh he knew what she liked, but in this kind of state it was hard to think. He mentally reprimanded himself. Thinking out loud he said, "I need one of those, what do you call them...shop assistants? Or a gay friend...I'd settle for one of them."

* but my legs were shaking ,
MY HANDS WERE SEARCHING.______________
Elli didn't really know what had possessed him to go to the mall. All he really wanted was a place to escape to and keep his mind off of things. Such as the fact that he didn't have any cigarettes left. The story of his fucking life, basically. Regaling in that fact, he was rather grumpy, this was punctuated by the fact that he glowered at everyone who cut in front of him, or who simply greeted him when he entered a shop. Not that he was really looking at things to buy, if he had any money he would get some smokes. Hr grumbled under his breath as a perky store clerk asked him if he needed help finding anything. He quelled the urge to flip her off - it was only her job after all. Instead he responded with a blunt, "no." Before walking past he and leaving the store. He peered at a clock hanging on the wall and sighed briefly - it was basically like a job, keeping himself away from his aunt, it would be that much easier if she would just let him get one that earned him money. Could it really add anymore stress than she was already putting on him? He doubted it. Converse clad feet kicked at the tiles as he walked, creating an annoying scuffing noise that induced the other patrons of the shop to glare at him harshly - he didn't seem to notice, or care.
Moving along to a different area of the mall he spotted a lanky looking boy that seemed awfully familiar. Running the cogs of his mind he recognized him as Harper's brother. He wasn't too familiar with the girl, but they had hung out on occasion, and she gave him a cig from time to time, which was enough to earn his respect. He remembered asking her who he was after seeing a picture on her cell phone, or something, and she laughed at him when he commented that he was cute. A streaking blush formed on his face as the memories came back to him. He fiddled with his hands, not sure whether or not to introduce himself at all. Well, he always had an excuse, and a connection. He slowly meandered over to the taller boy, before stopping shyly in front of him and saying, "Hey, you're Harper's brother right? I'm her friend...from school." Well, lovely, that sounded brilliant. Where else would he have known her from? A fucking strip club? He flushed at his stupidity before saying; "Hey I'm really sorry, like you don't know me and all and you probably think I'm a huge creeper, but, do you have a cigarette I can borrow?" He bit his lip, the tinge of pink not fading from his cheeks whatsoever. Through all this he managed to figure out he hadn't said his name and with a slight squeak he allowed, "I'm Elli, by the way."

With an almight sigh Keys turned round away from the window and was greeted with a new sight. The boy in front of him was shorter than he was, light brown hair and a quirky dress sense, the kind of person who can imagine was a really cute kid. And surprise surprise he was Harper's friend. She had always made friends easier than he had, but he'd never had an introduction from one of her classmates...usually girl mates of hers who happened to be at the same party he was...and well that never ended well. But this seemed harmless enough. It also meant that this boy was younger than him, but he could have guessed that anyway. "Well at least you didn't meet her at some strip club...nasty business...", he caught himself mid sentence, "...but you didn't hear me say that!" Frick, great start. Slag off your sister to her mate, thats never going to end well. But somehow he guessed that he would be safe from tell-tales.
Keys almost mistook the guys request as confidence, not even saying his name. But then the facade crumbled and the shaky squeak of a sentence came out. It almost made him laugh, sympathetically. We all had moment like that. It was almost endearing. "I'm fresh out... Elli, but I need to get out of here....err...preferably somwhere that sells fags?" He was never good at subtle hints, so as a general rule of thumb he stayed clear and was generally pretty blunt. It was a great blessing and a curse, either helping or hurting people close to him. But it was the way he functioned, and in recent years it had become the only way he could deal with life.
He noticed the blush on Elli's face and felt bad. Maybe he was a bit intimidating. And he had just done the same thing, forgetting to introduce himself. He extended a hand, a formal greeting. "Nice to meet you, Though I'm not generally called 'Harper's older brother'...usually Sebastian or Keys." He smiled, white teeth perfected by a year with a brace when he was nine. Oh those were awkward years, and a long time ago. He gave a firm handshake, something his father had taught him as he grew up. "Now, about that cigarette..."
