Gracen prefers to go by Gracen, and only her close friends and family can shorten that to Grace or Gracie. She is the second oldest child in a family of four, but she is also the most protected, since she went blind at the age of three months. Gracen has a cane, but no seeing eye dog, and she is perfectly mobile and good at finding her way around. However, she needs friends who are close enough to be able to help her out. She is kind to begin with, and has a mischievous side, but being blind has made her a good listener, since she relies on listening to get her around. She needs quite a few friends, mostly because she isn't independent. She is perfectly willing to be friends, close friends, or good friends with either guys or girls. She does need one or two besties, though, who are willing to stand by her no matter what. Gracen isn't just kind, though. She can be jealous (mostly of things that are sight-exclusive) and sarcastic. She does need enemies, and just because she can't see them doesn't mean she won't find them. She won't have a lot of enemies, though, just people who aren't understanding of her condition. Gracen has not had a lover or even been in a very serious relationship. She dated a guy in high school who was also blind, and that left a lot to be desired. Being blind means that she doesn't have a physical preference, and she is bi-curious and open to any person, so long as he or she is empathetic enough to love her despite the fact that she will never be able to see their face. But most people have sex in the dark anyway, right? At least that's one area where she won't be terribly far behind. Gracen also has family, if anybody is interested. Her cousins are all in the Miami area, so if you feel like you would be related to the Harlowes, you probably are. She also has a 21 year old sister, a 16 year old sister, and a 15 year old brother if anybody's interested.

Wow, I really love her character. Though I would be overjoyed to fill the romance interest, I don't think Keys has that kind of commitment. However I can imagine them being childhood friends from when his parents used to bring him on visits to Miami every Summer, and it's just a surprise to see her again. What do you think?

Let me just say that I kind of love Keys. He's adorable. And I think he and Gracen would be amazing together. He's got the adventurous attitude that she needs, and I think that she would secretly kind of worship him for being so willing to do what he wants. She would be willing to do crazy things with him in the middle of the night, but also probably be grounding and down-to-earth if he needed it.

As for romance, they can have all of the elements of a relationship without being romantic. Though if Keys ever did fall in love with a girl that wasn't Gracen, she'd be jealous. I think she'd understand if he fell in love with a guy, though.

Childhood friends sounds good, do you want to thread out their re-meeting each other? It'd probably be pretty easy for him to realize that he knows her; there aren't exactly a lot of blind people with white sticks walking around.

i could see im being like a big brother to her. he knows a little about not being independent. he had cancer for several years as a child , so he was constantly watched over and taken care of. and as a result because of surgery, he walks with a minor limp. he doesn't always use a cane but sometimes he does. so he can empathize with her. he's the kind of guy that's genuine and quirky in his own ways. most of them, very geeky. haha. i could see him making some joke and being like, "i love when your in the room. then i'm not the only person with a cane for people to stare at." i don't know how or where'd they'd meet. but that all specifics we can work out or look over. Orion && Gracen

Orion and Gracen wouldn't know each other too much, but Gracen and Orion's younger sister Christine were great friends. Christine had Leukemia and died before her twenty-first birthday. Christine owed Gracen a favor, but never was able to repay that favor, so Orion owes Gracen a favor, which he helps out and secretly confides to Gracen that he likes Nessie and would love to take her out on a date.
